Based on all the arguments so far, I'm gonna have to go with Dan McNeely. He has his gun, his manipulative voice and his ability to change his enemy's past in order to traumatize him. Plus he can summon puzzles out of nowhere that are impossible to solve and Richard will feel OBLIGATED to solve the puzzle instead of just shooting him in the head.

Oh yeah, forgot that. He can stand in the same room as an armed woman who has a grudge against him and manage to trick her into solving puzzles.

It is, in fact, not BS. Haguile posted a cute little link that can provide you with what Dan McNeely can do. Which is far more contribution than any of the Richard backers have given so far.

A verbatim book quote is totally not a contribution. Totally.

Look, I don't want to bring out The Quote Pile to make this match fall in line, but I draw the line here. Arguing GANON's toonforce I can accept. Arguing visual gags for Twilight Sparkle, I can let stand. But using bad writing as a power source is going too far. If I bring out The Quote Pile nobody ends up happy, discussion dies, and we get a quick and easy mercy. I'm offering you people a chance to keep the arguments vaguely sane and asking you to make at least a token effort to mask the fanboy logic behind arguments. Keep at this and I won't even bother with trying to reason with you: I'll just post a bunch of feats that show how Richard has an answer to more or less every single thing you've tried to argue and wait until we hit 18 votes in favor of Richard to put a new match up. I'm not bluffing, either. I don't bring out the quote piles because the matches turn into dreadful bores, but if pushed by such inane arguments I'll just make sure you don't have any ground to stand on and wait until Rahl scores his win.

I'm not allowing it for Urza next round either in his favor or against, I'm digging deep into the archives of the characters loaded with bull****, and in general I am NOT going to let this crap go down. If you desperately want your character to win and won't listen to reason that's fine, I don't have a problem with MWCs. Trying to game the system gets my goat though, and I won't let that go on.

Nah, this crosses the line. Seeing every single dumb argument you could think of in the span of eight matches has kind of ticked me off. You can fanboy vote for McNeely, but don't insult my intelligence or that of the other voters by trying to disguise it with far-fetched arguments that don't even work. The puzzle trick? Richard has an instinctive ability to solve problems that borders on getting the solution handed to him right when he starts. The compelling voice? He's faced charms before and resisted them. Shooting him with bullets? Not only does he have bullet time and all encompassing air shields that can't be penetrated, but unless the shot kills him outright he can either heal himself or kill Dan first, as he basically doesn't feel pain. McNeely being immortal? Getting chucked to the Underworld rings him out and counts as a win for Richard. Deception? He has empathy reads. I don't even like Rahl, but I refuse to let something this ridiculous go down.

And again, just to hammer this home: I don't have a problem with dumb votes, fanboy votes, or whatever else, but don't you dare to have to the gall to break the contest rules and then shove that in my face trying to pretend you haven't. The staggering hypocrisy of the McNeely arguments is out-and-out indefensible and I will not take any chances that might let him advance based on it. Vote for him and move on without arguments if you're going to vote because seeing him win would be 'funny'. Don't try to defend it.

Now this is what I want to see. What irritates me about MPFC matches lately is that a lot of characters seem to go by ontheir own reputation and prestige without anyone actually laying down the normal chains of events. Matches come down to which side can out-vague the other side where everyone feels they need to preserve a trump card that can be withheld from the topic until needed. Concrete feats are what's needed here, no vague references to what they could do that we have to press to reveal.

When the joke isn't funny, I don't laugh. This is my serious face. An OK joke vote:

"McNeely. Too suave and good at shooting to lose to someone who wouldn't even know what a banana fishing rod is."

A joke vote that pisses me off:

"McNeely can dominate Rahl with his alluring voice, move so fast he won't be able to shield himself in time to deflect his shots, his bible will protect him from subtractive magic, and be unaffected by anything Rahl throws at him because he's immortal."

Care to guess why the first vote is kosher and the second one isn't?

I share this sentiment, but I'm the host of the contest. I can't exactly take a side and bring out a 10k wall of text to support the guy I think would win based on my research, as it is dishonest to do that and not provide at least a nice crunchy feat summary for the other side, but I don't have time to host the contest AND be the point man for both sides every match. So I have to let the voters do the talking. I'm making an exception for Urza because I want the hate for him to end since he is actually very well defined (and so that his future opponent in Round 3 can potentially win once the voters are aware of what he can do) and for this match because it took a drastic turn for the stupid, but it shouldn't be the norm. This is *your* contest, people. You're the ones who bring out the awesome feats and the convincing arguments, not me. Come out and play!

welp I watched all of trapped

Richard

Why? Because Dan is also an idiot (as well as a lot of the chars in the game lmao). The girl also took the drug (he said so himself) yet he thought he could just shoot her and be done with it. Also why offer her the drug again if she already took it like he said unless it has to be taken multiple times Wesker style etc. Sure he could have been lying but why waste the effort on the act then (unless he just wanted someone to bang). Another reason the bad writing could be used against him is how the hell could HE not notice SHE had a shotgun etc in a cutscene (gameplay sure but whatever).

As Kan said most of Dan's "powers" is really just bad writing etc and not actually powers at all (unless there is a fourth one made and it turns out the drug also gives SUPER SHENANIGAN POWERS).

Though the series did give me quite a good laugh lol =P

Part of why I kaboomed on this match. But really, if it is what it takes, I will go prepare the featlists for the matches. I was going to do it with the "who" names like Kurou Daijuuji, but I might as well go all the way and just make the third and fourth posts feat walls so as to get people acquainted to the characters even if they're Superman and Spiderman.

The arguments are bad in the first place because they stem from bad writing and not feats, so "shhhhhhhhhhh". That they don't work is just an icing on the cake.

Sorry if I sound angry, Hag. I just don't want to let the contest devolve into something really stupid because I saw the seeds of it on Round 1 and did nothing to stop it. It's not even that I find the idea of McNeely doing all of the stuff you guys claimed that dumb, it's just that being forced into watching the joke votes pile up and facing the possibility of seeing an entrant that shouldn't advance win comfortably because his opponent is unknown made me feel really tired.

You allowed GANON into the tournament, and you're just now worried about joke votes?

That's a decision I've already come to regret but that ultimately doesn't bother me all that much because GANON has a very set path and people still end up interested in the contest. Total apathy is a different story.

lol I am sorry but people who are voting for Dan atm haven't watched the video and deduced that Dan isn't really tough. if anything he is like Wesker minus superpowers (even that comparison doesn't sound right). Plus his own "bad writing" powers if people are counting also work against him as he is also affected by the "moron effect" from the series. =P

Or they're doing joke votes. Because really, Richard's Wind Slash can win this fight 100% of the time. No hyperbole here - it's a very far reaching AoE emitted from Richard's position that can easily kill a single person who comes into contact with it.

Yeah I can see it being joke votes after Haguile's video. Richard arguments were more convincing even before I watched the vid anyway (even though I loathe balefire. Yes I know it isn't that but people are describing it like it is)

Richard arguments look better right now, but this is subject to change!

I feel like any kind of confrontation between the two would just end in a stalemate. Both have insane defensive abilities, but the best one can do is manipulate and shoot the other, while the other is really, really good with a sword. It's just that Dan is immortal, and Richard can physically stop anything. I think I'd give the manipulation the edge, simply because it actually has more than a 0% chance of working.

Did you not read the first ten posts? Richard has Subtracting Magic. This magic chucks McNeely to a different plane of existence, which means a ringout loss. And Richard has AoE Subtracting Magic to draw upon, and BIG AoE. McNeely's tankiness is 100% irrelevant because even if you think he won't die, a ringout counts as a loss.

Dan has only been shot really and both times seemed enough to incapacitate him (only time he pulled shenanigans was in Trapped 1 where he just got up like a second after and KOd the guy) other two times he seemed out of it. Besides who is to say Richard could just chop his head off and pull a "Hidan" sure Dan could be alive as just a head but not much he is gonna do cept try to convince Richard to kill himself or something which isn't going to work I think.

also one could interpret (though it could be wrong cause Trapped seems kinda random) is that the drug wears off after a time (hence why he wanted the girl to take it) though then again that could be just because he just wanted someone to have sex with and she never really took it.

I prefer to go with my Hidan explanation and not go with the ringout theory. I think just cutting Dan's head off would be enough.
