No spoilers, please. I beat the game once and it while it was pretty good, as soon as I got to the point where you have to deal with the text-adventure part again something just clicked and made me put the game away.

The gameplay was serviceable for one playthrough, but even with turning the difficulty up, I don't really feel like dealing with it again.

Like is there a reason they couldn't have just given all the plot in one playthrough? Did they just intentionally leave out plot details for second/third playthroughs to artificially add replay value?

Or is there really something amazingly super awesome that I'm missing out on?

It's definitely worth playing through the second time. I'd argue the third time too, but the jump from A -> B is bigger than B -> C, IMO.

It's pretty vital to play the game at least once more to get the full impact of the story, I'd say. There are some major changes to the perspective of the story the second time through that wouldn't have worked the first time.

Nah, the way NG+ works in NieR is very "rushing back to the ending" friendly, IMO. One of the best, if not the best, NG+ system I've encountered in that sense.
