No, he wasn't offering to change the name. He was offering to drop the trademark they filed for on the name "Scrolls"

He also offered to add a subtitle to the title of the game, you know, "Scrolls: [subtitle]"

For me it's not a big enough deal to do that. The Elder Scrolls games are the only Bethesda products I even buy so I don't exactly give them much business to begin with. Plus I've already got a Skyrim preorder anyway so I don't want to go through the trouble of canceling that and buying the game used or whatever.

This is not nearly as black and white as people are making it out to be. Notch has been really stupid during this whole incident, at least as stupid as Bethesda. This is not a simple case of the big corporation picking on the little guy, as much as Notch would like to spin it that way.

Basically, this article just shows that they weren't suing out of an actually worry about branding. They figured Notch was new to this whole "having money" thing, and they figured they could bully him. And if they ended up going to court? They'd lose, sure, but then every time they do this again in the future they could just point to how much Notch spent defending himself to intimidate people to settling.

I see this **** all the time. As far as I can tell it's par for the course in America. The number of people that I personally know cannot be counted on both hands who have been the victim of similar tactics. It's evil, and it hurts the economy in the long run. The worst part is the law protects the offenders from the offended.

You want to know why America is in decline? It's this **** right here. It is truly lamentable that it's spreading overseas.

both Obsidian and Bethesda have game breaking glitches at the start. hell Bioware's not exactly safe from that either.

biggest reason to worry about 'em though just comes from the fact that some of their recent experimenting is uh... not that good. see Brink and Wet for more details.
