Sorry, tazzy, but I disagree with your method.

The purpose of this contest is to judge OSTs from a different angle. Keep in mind two things:

1)There's no purpose to the songs if we vote for the overall OST each time.
2)Even if we had everybody listen to the entire OST, it's still not all that effective because when you listen to that many unfamiliar songs chances are you'll lose your patience and thus have a horrible subjectivity. At least with ONE song you'll (I mean any random person) be more willing to listen carefully.

The biggest flaw of this contest is that, since games will be losing before ever using their heavy hitters, that many games will not be represented by their best songs.

And that leads to a cool idea I have... what if, instead of making this a contest, we made this a "league" of sorts, with a season? That way -all- the games will be fully represented, and we won't have to worry about all this strategizing/ordering crap.

Maybe somebody already said that.

Of course, this contest has started. STILL, I think it would be awesome if we did that when this is all said and done!!

Not explicitly. Someone suggested using a song completely at random off each soundtrack, or at random off a short list, but not a round robin style league. That could be interesting.

Obviously I won't be doing that, but you're welcome to give it a shot after we finish.

no one has heard every band in existence, therefore Ulti's Battle of the Band contest is impossible

or people who like the OST can prepare some songs to listen to like they're already doing in the current setup

an OST is pretty big, so there's no perfect solution. not requiring anything is one, but what i meant in the second part of the post you could easily take the 7 songs (or change the number) from each OST and put them in 1 match. and obviously allow people to judge on whatever they want in addition to those that are posted. maybe make matches 48 hours or something.

I don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't listen to 14 songs in order to accurately vote. I think this format works well, as the double-elimination will give every OST a second chance. Besides, this contest is just a fun diversion, I don't take it seriously. Chrono Cross will always be the best OST in my heart, whether it wins this contest or loses in round 1.
