Given that a big part of the appeal of the game was being able to experiment with odd combinations of powers, being restricted to Archetypes and two character slots seems to defeat the purpose.
Is it still worth a go as a cheapskate freeloader? Anyone on B8 playing it?

"I'm Commander Shepard, and you're standing in the biggest library in Citadel Space. Look me up."
I played a free trial at one point. It was fun just messing around and pretending to be a superhero.
To be honest, it's one of the few MMOs where I wouldn't mind roleplaying. It never seemed to get to serious, always keeping the feel of the popular image of comic book superheroes.
i played a little bit when it was getting started. it was fun for awhile, but the grinding was boring. was kinda nice flying around (less so without the flight upgrades).
i wonder how much has changed...

There is no shame in not knowing; the shame lies in not finding out
It's absolutely worth playing. Super fun game with a ton of content. I'm not sure how much is gutted for the free players, but I'm sure it's still great fun.

There's a few things you can't do with Char creation for free.. Let's say about 30% is for premium/VIPs only like capes and what not. You can still buy them if you want to though, not sure how much they cost.
So Freedom server's ok for everyone? WHO WILL MAKE DAT TOPIC GUYS
I'm thinking of making the topic myself now but that will end up being a disaster. I don't know too much about the game yet anyway to write a proper intro or something.
I can't seem to be able to log in even after already changing my account information once and typing it in correctly every time. No idea what's up with that.

From: Some_Character | #030 The problem seems to come from trying to connect to the US game. How did this all go for you, VL?
I don't know! I didn't even know it had an EU version before Ayuyu said so. I just download the installer from http://na.cityofheroes.com/en/freedom.php and let it do its thing.
From: SlymDayspring | #029 Man, I totally want to get in on this because I love CoH but I literally only own a netbook right now and I doubt it would run well.
I've got a really bad pc and it runs fine enough even on low/medium ish settings. You can always try!
Strangely enough, it seems to work now after a second password change. I am Pantheloneon, a lone warrior with electrically charged punches and healing factor. I am not so lone as to not like company though.

The sewer seems to be the first real dungeon in the game, so it's better to attempt that with multiple people. But I think I've done enough for the day.

Well, the sewers used to be the way to level up through 1-8 real fast. They recently made a trial for it now (Death From Below, I believe?) and it's a good way to level now too. I recommend forming a team for that though, since you'll get more experience and fun times from it.
