I do think though that the SE fanboys/girls greatly out number the trolls, but all that keeps coming back to mind is L-Block....

I'm skeptical of Hitler's joke vote power. There will be plenty of people who will be ironic and vote Hitler to be funny, but the problem is that people don't like Hitler. People aren't going to rally around Hitler. I just don't see it.

...Good point. Then again, he is the villain there. I, for one, am Jewish, and even though I was this wild, crazy, ADHD kid and my parents were generally against exposing me to violence, the Nazi-killing of Wolfenstein was "quality family bonding time". I didn't have any dedicated gaming systems until my eighth birthday (when I got an N64, and around the same time I got an original NES that my parents had apparently had before they had children, although the only games that they had for it were Jeopardy!, Wheel of Fortune, and Tetris, so I needed to supplement it). But PC gaming? Way back when I was four, I "played" Wolfenstein with my father working the actual controls because, well, I was four and would've sucked on my own. And this was perfectly fine. You know, they actually mention in his bio that B.J. Blazkowicz is Jewish, so I'm all for supporting that rivalry.

That's an interesting perspective. In my mind, though, the successful jokes (L-Block, Missingno, WCC) win not just because they're funny, but because they also remind people of something they like - Tetris, Pokemon, Portal. Hitler doesn't tend to generate a lot of positivity like that, even as an effective villain - and he certainly is a powerful villain. I think there are enough people who just don't find this one funny, whether they're offended by it or not.

Well, I guess Hitler isn't really "funny", but you get what I mean. Funny like novelty funny not funny like "haha that Hitler is a funny guy!" funny.
