I believe the way they've been treated in the past agrees with me on that, too. I specifically remember no counter phases being generated for Fisher using his "Mark" ability.

Pure Supports have fun abilities, though! Also, you don't have to worry about rostering in order to use the ability, or rostering for recharge. Also also, a lot of PSes are cooler than the battle mercs we got anyway.

Man the PSes were mostly "who". So obscure and no one even cares about them! It's no wonder only like 2 teams ever had any.

My team has Terry Bogard, Bill Rizer, and Rad Dad Rasta Spencer, and no PS beats that.

Agreed, Nier is an amazing game.

Don't see how anyone who actually played it could dislike it!

That's not really the dumbest thing I've seen ruled on. Raziel's version of the Soul Reaver is kinda ambiguous cause it's like made of a soul and bonds itself to him and such. I was actually arguing the other side at first but then was convinced that it's an item cause you physically pick it up when you obtain it. But like, if it was just soul energy manifested into a sword? I don't buy that being "an item" by Samus's ability's definition.

By this definition, that still means passive techniques and effects of a person's body are now defined as "melee weapons" rather than techniques, magic, or their own unarmed skill.

Raziel's "weapon" is entirely the power of his own soul that no one else can use and has no physical basis whatsoever. Does this make Soma's bullet and guardian souls now count as "melee weapons" rather than souls/magic? Or does this make passive effects from a person's body that are nonrepeatable by others such as Ken's flames on his Shoryuken into melee weapons?

Lopen makes a good point on that. How can you seriously call it an "item"? And what on earth happens to it? Is it still there, but he can't use it as melee?

In addition, let's get a ruling out in the open related on this: What if I used the Soul Reaver ability that's now taking place afterwards to force an item in after that ban essentially "cleared house"?

And another, if this is what the definition of an item is now, what does Selvaria's first ability do if it bans any weapon that isn't a firearm and then goes on to state "No swords, shields, whips, scanners, or any item with the exception of those given by Dirna."? Like, in reference to Samus or Chief, thanks to their power suits and such.

soul reaver ability: the samus ban prevents raziel from 'using' that weapon type, so it's a blanket ban that persists through wartime. getting the spirit reaver through the ability wouldn't let raziel use it.

selvaria on samus: loses power bombs and anything 'handheld' i'm forgetting. the suit itself is neither handheld nor a weapon, so it stays, as does whatever is used through it.

selvaria on chief: loses the energy sword, gravity hammer, flamethrower, frag, plasma, spike, and firebomb grenades, and of course everything in the 'item' category.

...Soul Reaver is not 'The power of his own soul', or at least not in the way you're describing it. It's a sword that technically *is* Raziel, but it's Raziel having wrapped back around to himself on the timeline to create it by Kain stabbing him with the Reaver

Point being, it's an item. Essentially, Raziel wielding a sword version of himself, but still an item

No, DC, he's wielding his soul. The soul was entrapped within the sword, and nothing about the sword itself is actually with Raziel. Case in point, Kain is literally using the actual sword.

Like, if a character drained the holy power from Ike's Ragnell and then could fire the lasers it shoots out of their hands, the lasers aren't a "weapon". They're a power or an attack. They were at one point associated with a weapon, but they were just a power source of it.

Or another example, Cole's Gigawatt Blades vs the Amp.



Those are a power. He uses his own power to create something to amplify his own attacks, it's reliant on no item or weapon.



This is a weapon. While he still uses his own powers to amplify it, he is reliant upon a physical object that can be taken away or influenced.

The Material Reaver that Kain has is a weapon. The Spectral Reaver Raziel has is a power and if not that, literally cannot be construed as an "item".
