To start out with, yes I did enjoy it, it was not the most fun in the world, but it was an enjoyable game.
It deserves all the crap it gets to be sure. It is a majestic museum of Disney, but it is very rough around the edges as a game. The camera is one of the worst ever, and will lead to you being hit much more than the enemies will. The jump control seems off, which is quite a problem for a platformer, and for a game that is so much about combat, you are limited to pretty much 2 controls (for all intents and purposes paint and thinner are the same combat wise) paint/thinner and spin attack.
The backtracking through projectors became so tedious. The fact that the entire game is one huge "point of no return" really sucks when you are trying to do everything. You can only get the collectable power ups once per file (this one is absolutely INEXCUSABLE, you created a game about multiple run throughs, WTH would I never be able to get those power ups again. To add on to that, I understand it is Mickey, and you don't want him to be evil if you are Disney, but it is absolutely ridiculous how much more there is in a paint run than a thinner run. On my thinner run after Paint, I only had 11 pins left, 11, out of 105, you can get 94 out of 105 of the main collectible in the game by being Mr. Goody two shoes. In fact, with the exception of one VERY EARLY optional quest, I can't think of one time the game rewards you for being evil, when the whole point of the game was to make these choices for yourself. There is more, and if anyone has any interest I'll talk more about it, I'm just happy it is finally done.
Oh yeah, one more thing. Perhaps the worst 3 hours in modern gaming at the very start. The game really does become better when you get to Mean Street USA, but it is so bad before that, that I understand why so many never finished it. A game needs to capture you at the start, this does not do that.
