should include silent hill 3 as well.
It's really short!

But it's easy mode is harder than SH2's hard mode, so i dunno.

well, even if he hasn't played the first, SH3 is still the scariest in the series, so i was hoping he'd play it. SH2 is probably the least scary in the series, and he's getting freked out from it, so I'd love to see him go from the least scary to the most scary in the series. It would be pretty entertaining. lol

Take your time.

SH3 is scarier than SH2, but it's also a much worse game. SH2 is very character/plot intensive, SH3 not so much.

Yeah, probably wouldn't be my cup of tea then. So far, SH2 has been barely enough character stuff for me to press forward (but I realize I'm, like, at the beginning, hahaha).

It's hard to explain what makes SH2's characters and plot so good without ruining it. Just pay attention to everything, I guess.

Definitely the plan. I believe I'll have some time to play tomorrow afternoon, and perhaps tonight late. I think I'll just play, and them come back and update as best I can from memory rather than as I go. More immersive that way.

All right, so, I played quite a bit just now. I'm sitting at about 4hrs or so, plus a few minutes.

Okay, so, I left off after leaving the apartment buildings, right? I had to reload my save and avoid Pyramid Head again in that area where he was... eating that thing? Or something? I can't tell, to be honest @_@. Either way, I was a pro at evading his buster sword this time!

Okay, so I leave the apartment buildings and start going toward the park, and run into this bratty little child (like I mentioned before), the one that probably considered eating my hand. Little twirp apparently knows Mary, but runs off before she can tell me anything useful. Figures.

Lots of items around in this park, that's cool. I don't need your stinkin' handgun bullets, I have a rod of doom! Okay, here's where I stopped, meeting this skank that looks like my wife. She's pretty odd looking, actually, and her voice acting is sort of... disturbing. Actually, the voice acting all around has been sort of disturbing. All of the characters sound like something's ... off with all of them. But, I think that's the point! And so, I continue. Time to escort this gal. Right this way, m' lady.

So I wander around in this new area of Silent Hill, fighting off these two same enemies (straight jacket acid-spewing guy and weird walking mannequin-limb guy). I think I had mistaken this thing for a nurse earlier, but yeah, it's just a set of walking limbs. Whatever.

Somewhere along the way here, I picked up a new rod of doom made out of STEEL. Oh, these *****es are NOT ready for this. I tried out my rod of doom on Maria, and ... oh, ****, it looks like she has actually takes damage from me. Well, that sucks. But it was kind of fun...

A bowling alley! I love bowling. Maria doesn't, though, so she waits outside by herself in a monster-infested foggy street. You are SO SMART, Maria. You also clearly are not all that meets the eye, because, uhh, you should be dead the way you walk around. In any case, I go inside and it's that little brat girl again (Laura is her name, okay, she has a cool theme, thanks iTunes) talking with Mr. Vomithead Eddy. Eddy is acting a little more normal this time and not so off when he's talking with Laura, but when I go talk to him, he acts all weird again. I'm getting some sort of vibe like Shutter Island status, like everybody here knows me but is trying to act like I don't for me to explore myself. Or something. Either way, Eddy, you suck, rod of doom, etc.

Laura took off, after her! Maria's all "I'm useless" and James is like "I know" and we set off to chase her. Then, upon realizing we are too fat to get through an opening in the wall, we go through a club / bar. This bar has poles on stages. Therefore, Future likes. Maria, make yourself useful and start dancing. I need to further examine how much you look like my wife. I need you to strip... for me.

Okay, so I end up running around awhile and eventually go inside a hospital. Well, THAT'S fun. Another dimly-lit, tight-quarters building with hundreds of rooms and puzzles galore. Ain't that peachy keen! Oh, but this time I have a ***** with me. Cool.

Continued next post.

Okay, so, the hospital scene kinda all... blends together, to be honest. I don't remember exactly when I got which key and what went where and stuff. So I'll give some very general reactions to this place.

NURSES ARE EVIL.

My rod of doom has failed. I swear, I can't for the life of me get this ****ing thing to SWIIIING in time before a nurse smacks me. And half the time, I end up smacking Maria instead. So, fine, handgun time. I have like 160 bullets, so why not--let's do this.

I made my way through here (screw this music, it's way scarier in there than it was in the apartment complex) and bust a cap, etc. So I get to this room, and Maria wants to lie down. You are so smart, honey, go ahead, take a nap, but don't blame me if you wake up with a buster sword in your body!

... Ha. Sex.

Anyway, clearly she just wants to die, so, whatever. I did some more soul searching, some saving, some getting items--and wow, hello, MONSTERS BEHIND EVERY SINGLE DOOR. I have a new habit of just aiming as soon as I open a door, since there seems to be someone there ALWAYS. Hell, there's a door here that has, like, 2 nurses. Oh, also, I got a shotgun at some point. But this thing fires REALLY slowly. Holy crap. James, learn to use a shotgun, brotha.

Eventually, I get a rooftop key (I got so many items in here, man... oh, and whoever said that combining a hair and a needle was silly and unexpected, right there with ya. Like, wtf?), and I go to the roof, read some memo, and then I was confused for a second because there was nowhere to go.

Oh.

Well, **** you too Pyramid Head. Wait, did he... did he just smack me with his buster sword, and I TAKE it? Was that a blunt end, or what? Anyway, screw you, Pyramid Loser, and I heal myself upon falling into some... area. Wait, what?

More randomly going around. Not gonna lie, totally used a guide in here. All this item searching just doesn't quite do it for me, and it drives me nuts if I miss something obvious. Like, there's times where I'm in a room and miss something just because I didn't investigate it correctly. Also, thank God again for 2d controls.

Eventually, I find Laura. She's all... scared of me, now? Yeah, definitely getting the vibe that James is a loony in some Shutter Island sort of way. Everyone's interactions with me are just... odd. Well, she decides to come with me--why are you being all nice all of a sudden?

Oh, that's why.

Yeah, when she was like begging me to go into the room first and stuff, I got a feeling she was gonna lock me in. MORTAL KOMBAT! Well, uh... these things are pretty easy. Hanging... chain bed... people? Well, guys, maybe you didn't get the memo, but I have a shotgun now. This means that you probably should have appeared earlier in the game or waited until I had no ammo or something. If I had to rod of doom you all, I could see this being tricky. But, uhh, yeah. A few shots to you guys and you die.

But apparently killing you triggers SILENT HILL DIMENSION MODE. At least that's what it looks like (totally basing this opinion on the movie). The place wasn't exactly "pristine" before, but now there's a whole lot more blood and weird **** everywhere. Awesome. Well, looks like Maria's gone. She left some new health item for me, though, how nice of her!

(Yeah, Maria is totally a villain or something).

Continued in a second.

All right, so, I wander around some more (again, it all kinda blends in together), but eventually I ended up down in the basement and moving a bookshelf to reveal a hole. As I investigate it... Maria's back! Wow, umm, okay, for my money, that was the first genuine sounding voice acting in the game, she actually sounded both 1) concerned, and 2) human. That was a normal interaction, the first time anybody actually sounded slightly alarmed that there are MONSTERS everywhere trying to kill us. Thank you Maria. Thank you. Even if you are a villain who strips for money, thank you.

Got another important item and stuff.

More wandering and wasting handgun bullets on enemies (I'll be damned if I trust my rod of doom anymore, these nurses just get hits in too easily). They still aren't anywhere near as scary as the straight jacket guys when they scurry around though. Holy ****, those things.

And now I'm in the elevator listening to a really messed up broadcast thing about Silent Hill trivia. I know the answer to #2! It's Walter! Well, I mean, I think it is--he seems to be bad in the Silent Hill universe, right? Well, either way, that was the longest ride between 1 floor on an elevator ever, but uhh, let's proceed.

Hey look, a 3d painting. I now pronounce you lead ring and copper ring, OPEN YOUR LEGS.

Okay, so the guide told me to go to that storage room, though, to answer the TRIVIA QUESTIONS. But, uhh, I got it wrong and got poisoned and ****. I didn't know it was possible to be that dead but... still not dead. Thank God I have like 5 first aid kits and like 10 health drinks. I'm doing pretty well on stuff.

Running down to the basement, la dee da dee daa, HOLY ****ING **** **** **** *** RUN ***** RUN.

I love how as I'm running away from Pyramid Head, I hear Maria getting like butt****ed by him a couple times. Hope she doesn't die, because I don't even think my shotgun is going to do jack **** to that thing. Thank God, an elevator...!

Oh. Maria, uhh. My bad...

Well, crap. Is she dead? I mean, I assume she is, but I didn't witness her death per se, and I feel like this game would make that a pretty big element of knowing if something is actually dead. But, James feels awful. I mean, hey, you sorta just had to watch your wife die again, metaphorically. Good on you, pal.

You can't protect anyone! Not even yourself~~ </Liquid>

Anyway, I get some key, see Laura running away outside, and I exit the hospital and save. Pyramid Head, man, I'm surprised you didn't buster sword yourself through the elevator / door like in the movie when you tried to kill the hot cop.
