love nightwish no matter who is the lead female though i think they should leave their own songs to the original songstress. it doesnt sound quite right having anette do tarja songs and i figure it would be the same vice versa
anyone who enjoys marco singing should look into Northern Kings, his other band. They do mainly covers but all are quite enjoyable

The teacher said we could be anything we wanted when we grow up. He wasnt talking to you son, now go out back and practice digging some holes.
I enjoy hearing female singers. State-side, there aren't many (rock) bands with women in them, so I end up listening to stuff like Nightwish, WT, Lacuna Coil, etc.
I definitely prefer female vocalists in most cases. I just think they sound better, especially in metal.

I haven't listened to them yet, but I'll look into them. I have tried his other band, Tarot, before. Not a big fan of them, but I did really like the song "Ashes to the Stars".
Edit: Oh nice, Northern Kings has Marco AND Tony Kakko AND the lead singer from Charon. That's a quality vocalist ensemble!
From: -LusterSoldier- | #050 I don't think Marco is being overused in this album. I counted a total of 6 tracks from Imaginaerum that have Marco singing. That's the same number of tracks from Dark Passion Play with Marco singing. For Once and Century Child, both albums have 5 tracks with Marco in it.
Marco's credited for doing vocals on "Taikatalvi", "Ghost River", "Slow, Love, Slow", "I Want My Tears Back", "Scaretale", "Rest Calm", "The Crow, the Owl, and the Dove", and "Last Ride of the Day".

Interesting, I didn't even notice Marco on "Slow, Love, Slow" and "Last Ride of the Day". Maybe he did background vocals on those 2 and I never noticed him. So that's how I came up with 6 tracks for this album.

He's pretty noticeable in Last Ride of the Day. Slow Love Slow is definitely his least prominent track though.
I really can't stop listening to this album. I'm never getting tired of it either. I feel like each track is so different from each other, that there isn't really any repetition or forgettable songs, during a single listen through. I just never find myself skipping a track, because each one gives me something I want.
The more I listen, the more I think it might be my favorite Nightwish album. I think Ghost Love Score is still my favorite of theirs, and Poet and the Pendulum was dynamite, too. But, the undying quality of this album top to bottom is just nuts.

Wanglicious | Posted 12/21/2011 2:22:21 AM | message detail | quote honestly i think my fave track on this album is Storytime.
Oh hey, another Storytime lover in here. That makes 3 different people with Storytime has their favorite track.
Before the album came out, I made every effort to avoid Storytime and the audio samples until I finally had the full album. I did not want to listen to anything from the album before I had the album, as I did not want to spoil the surprise of what the album would sound like. I also wanted to hear the evolution of the band's sound, so that's another reason to avoid Storytime and the audio samples until I had the full album.

This was the first Nightwish album that I closely followed before and after the album was released, so I wanted to make it a very special occasion for me when I listen to it for the first time. On the album's release date in Finland (November 30th), I drank 7 shots of Bacardi rum (40% alcohol) at 5:00 AM EST. That's right, I wanted to listen to the album while I was drunk. At 5:15 AM, I started to feel the effects of the alcohol. I waited until 5:30 AM to start listening to the album. This was the full story of my drunken Nightwish experience:
I'll read that hopefully tomorrow when I have time. I did the same (not with alcohol), but wanted to wait and listen when I was in the perfect mood, and wasn't doing anything else, so I could get the full experience and make it special.
