every dqm game is like "over 300 monsters! over 400 monsters! OVER 500 MONSTERS"
I wonder if it even matters. this isn't Pokemon. dqmj2 crushes dqm1 on monsters and everyone likes the latter more. tell me things like "16 post-game arena groups to fight!" or "stats that go up to 999!", not this. anyway, I hope they don't screw this up and that it comes out here. after the pathetic effort they put into 2, I kind of doubt it. -- add the c and back away iphonesience ... They better have all of the monsters obtainable from one cartridge in this one; none of this needing four copies of a monster you can only get once per playthrough or needing to be in the top N players online crap. DWM1 and 2 were awesome, but Joker 1 and 2 were pretty meh.

they better keep the old breeding formulas. my thing with this game has been that it is very nostalgia-driven and you can mess it up in a lot of ways if you modernize it too much, but then you also don't want it to be the same game. if they update some of the mechanics, speed the game up, add more content and stick to what made the game good, I'll be happy. chances are it's going to do things I don't like though. well Pokemon didn't overhaul the gameplay mechanics as much as Joker did, they just added a bunch of stuff, and it's stuff most people like....so it works well, as you still very much get the nostalgia factor while losing the aspects in which the original has aged horribly.
agree on it being a potential system seller, and I already miss the names :\ I'm guessing Magic Key worlds are too much to hope for? And I wonder whether it's gonna look and play more like the original or Joker....both have their pluses and minuses. -- Join UCA, acquire popularity and you don't even have to job to BlAcK TuRtLe because he isn't in UCA ... That said the + and - breeding system has problems of utter unpredictability and only rare bouts of logic in what is produced.

you can get + and - items that you can equip to your monster to control that stuff. it's the same as the egg dude in DWM1.
man, just talking about this makes me want to bust it open again. I have a weird nostalgia for DWM which is weird because I played it for the first time in like 2005. anyway - Joker made some good changes. 100 monsters is so much better than 20. breeding itself was kinda cool. add that stuff to DWM's charm and more fulfilling content and you could have something great. you just have to not go overboard and implement the ability system or the level cap stuff. -- xyzzy ... Using the scepters and such is a BIT more of a hassle than the egg dude was in DWM1, but yeah, +/- doesn't really have any problems M/F didn't. And I dunno, I actually kinda like the ability system. And level caps were always there.

not stat maxes though. you could have a godlike slime in DWM. in Joker, your slime was objectively worse than a higher rank monster. the whole point of DQM, at least to me, was that your characters were completely malleable and you could learn whatever you wanted. with three skill sets and stat maxes, you lost a lot of that uber-customization.

I never got far enough into postgame for that to be that big an issue, and I'm told by people who have that the range of options just results in a max-stat team running all the best skills with no variety.

Well yeah the new system is probably better balanced for competitive play and stuff, but it's just not as fun. I also don't really like the rank system.

Different strokes- I think debating which set to put points into and what the new monster gets to inherit is more fun than waiting to hit X INT. I'll drink to the rank system being kinda lame, though.
