As ever, I've been tinkering with loads of forever-unfinished projects. I found a rather good free bit of game-making software called Construct, and have made basic engine mockups for all these games. I need to pick one to actually concentrate on and try to make something. The candidates are:
1) Toadstoolvania
Castlevania spoof set in the Mushroom Kingdom, starring a Toad. Platformer with linear levels and puzzles based around the theme of illusions.
2) Amy: Chaos Angel
Mashup of Popful Mail (which was at one point planned to be turned into a Sonic game for the US localisation), Tails Adventures, and the badass Sonic the Comic version of Amy Rose. Some Metroidvania elements as the hammer-wielding Amy travels through time to avert an ancient prophecy (again, plot loosely based on an StC storyline. She really was great in that comic. Had a crossbow and everything).
3) Untitled Zelda game
Based on Namco's Legend of Valkyrie, with Princess Zelda taking the lead role. A bit like a vertical shooter, except with Zelda-ish top-down controls and a main melee attack.
4) Hey, Listen!
Puzzle game in which Navi has to guide a blinded Link around dungeons by telling him when to move and activating mechanisms to rearrange the blocks. A bit like a top-down version of Mario & Wario.
So, any of those appeal?
