those are not the criteria that you should be using for this contest; it's about the rivalry, not the game or the characters specifically.

Really, I'm not surprised Pokemon is winning...

I mean, both of the antagonists have persistence on their side. Main difference is over the span of one game, or the span of the whole franchise. I'm guessing there is a fair share of people who are younger, or people who haven't played too many Metroid games, to get Samus and Ridley's rivalry as well as the mass of people who have probably played some version of the original Pokemon games, be it the old school Gameboy games or their GBA remakes. Plus, the Pokemon series has the anime backing it and I bet some, a very small some at that, voted for it based on Gary and Ash...

Despite me voting for Red and Blue to win the entire rumble in my bracket, which is pretty doubtful, I honestly think Samus & Ridley should win this specific battle...

You are right about this contest. But really, WHAT RIVALRY do the trainers have? Who can out collect animals? That beats shooting lasers and plasma energy balls while avoiding attacks from a flying alien demon dragon? Sorry, no one in their right mind should go with #1 over #2.

Lakitu vs Gravity > Trainers

Water vs Underwater Materia > Trainers

Masamune vs. Masa and Mune > Trainers

AND BOOBS > (poke) BALLS

Yeah, Kuja losing to Master Hand was pretty sad.

BEcause the majority of these contests always end in either Link or Cloud winning, I've come to the conslusion that the majority of gamefaqs voters are a bunch of old fogeys. The same veterans are probably voting for the trainers now.

The rivalry wasn't over collecting animals. It was about being the better trainer, collecting all the badges, constantly having Blue be one step ahead of you all the way to the end of the game where you finally get him to see who's better in the Elite 4.

lol I tried to could not get into it. It was back in the late 90's early 00's. Can't remember the name of the particular game. I borrowed it from my cousin after he was done with it. I think I returned it after a week. Tried to watch him play pokemon stadium on N64 a few years later... it was torture
