Board 8 > Skyward Sword is probably the closest thing to a perfect Zelda game.

Honestly, what more do people want out of a Zelda game than this? Everything about the game was practically perfection, and it was easily the best Zelda game. The characterization was fantastic, the overall feel of the environment and stages was wonderful, the dungeons were awesome, the items all got some good use, the game deviated from the standard pattern of Zelda games well, and it evolved the combat to something very excellent. It just had it all.

And the storyline was actually very good. I hope this game gets the Majora's Mask treatment, because I'd love to see a continuation of this Link, Zelda, and Groose. This was easily my favorite Zelda game, and I'll need to play it again sometime.

Get ready for people to argue about minor details being gamebreaking. Like having to deal with a tutorial or something.

Well, yeah. The one thing I would absolutely change is the massive hand holding. Yeah, Fi. I know I'm low on health. Thanks. Also, the fact that they need to show me getting treasure each time I get it after starting my game up again. Those are probably my two main issues.

It's not just a tutorial, it's that they hold your hand needlessly for so much of the game with unskippable dialogue with lengthy text boxes, not to mention obnoxiously repeated little cutscenes during a lot of events/bosses. Not to mention some of my personal faults with some later bosses... And just everything about flying/swimming with motion controls...

Still though, the game overall is certainly the closest to being a perfect Zelda game. It's just frustrating playing through because through all the wonderful items and story and puzzles and everything, there are just so many inexplicable, small design flaws that come up through the game that it's rather mindboggling and leaves a sour taste in my mouth. It's definitely not a game I'll be able to play through again for years to come.

Pacing needs to be fixed, big time. This would have been one of my favorite Zelda games, if not for the terrible pacing. Everything goes along so smoothly, then Fi shows up, or some stupid fetchquest that is completely unneeded shows up, especially towards the end.

They used it as a means to make the game longer, but it was terribly implemented.

Tightropes are definitely worse than flying or swimming

Yeah, but at least there are like, what, 8 of those in the entire game? The balancing isn't that hard either though I do admit that they are obnoxious.

Tightropes are easy if you figure out "the trick." Just wave the Wiimore left and right as soon as you begin walking. There's no need to worry about balance or anything.

Anyway, SS isn't perfect or even close (you can find tons of flaws with any game, especially one as large as this), but it's an outstanding game. It's definitely my favorite gaming experience on Wii, and I wasn't expecting it to top the Galaxies.
