pretty solid stuff all around. why can't all sports be this good in terms of fan voting for all star games?

my guess is maybe fantasy football being so popular leads to more overall league awareness? who knows

The NBA All-Star voting will still be led by Yao Ming, just because.

This was the only one that confused me, and I'm a Jets fan.

Maybe I just don't watch enough AFC games to realize that Joe McKnight is the top (he's definitely top 3 in the AFC, but I had no idea he had the stats to be #1, assuming he actually is).

the stats suggest McKnight deserves it.

I think it actually is because fantasy football increases fan attentiveness, so they're paying attention to players and stats from every team. You do still run into problems with offensive line and some defensive positions though, where you get only the name players or players from the best teams. Look at all those Packers.

They do such a good job voting, and it's only a portion of what determines who goes to the Pro Bowl. MLB and NBA fans do a horrible job voting, and their votes 100% determine All-Star starters. augh

And yeah, I'd have to assume Fantasy Football is a big reason. Also just the fact that there's so much attention on each game, and people are more likely to pay attention to the results outside of their favorite teams.

Well, anything will look good compared to MLB and the NBA. They are downright terrible. NBA people just want to see the big names. MLB fans have too much power in who goes and who doesn't.

Yeah actually, I think increased visibility of teams from outside markets also helps. In baseball, for instance, it's rare to watch teams other than the one in your market and the few really big names (and the teams playing your team, I guess). In the NFL, you'll watch almost every team play multiple games against different teams, in all likelihood.

Play down to bad teams, play up to good teams. By this logic Ravens > Packers 31-14.

What if they ran into the Broncos in round 1? A slightly above average team?
