That wasn't a Ron antivote btw. I legitimately like Crookshanks more than Ronald. The Fang vote however, was indeed a Cho antivote. Cho is even worse than Ginny.

I have to CHOOSE one of these? Seriously? On the one hand, we have someone who lived a thousand years ago, and the closest we know to how the guy lived was things the sorting hat tells us (and things the Goblins claim about his sword being stolen from them). On the other hand, we have an epilogue character, and a character who is clearly meant to remind us of Ginny. (Youngest child; complaining about not being able to go to Hogwarts yet; only daughter; did not inherit the all-important green eyes, green eyes obviously being main-character genes. Think about it--Lily Evans is the character around whom everything revolves in the parental generation: green eyes, and Harry Potter is the main character in his generation: green eyes, and Albus Severus is clearly the focus of the epilogue: green eyes).
Err...I've gotten off-track. So...Gryffindor, what do we even know about him? His heir loom is a sword, and he picks the bravest students. Which raises the question: when you're a wizard, what use do you have for a sword, even a nice one? When getting students, what use do you have for bravery? Ravenclaw picking smart students makes sense. Hufflepuff picking hard-workers who were loyal friends--yeah, in a real classroom those would perform pretty good too. Slytherin picking purebloods with ambition...actually, in a real-world classroom, picking students based on socioeconomic situation will probably get you good students. Which leaves Gryffindor as the really questionable one; how do Gryffindor's not come last in like...every school activity other than Quidditch and Triwizard Tournaments?
On the other hand...we have proto-Ginny who wines about not being able to go to Hogwarts. She's also keen on having Teddy and Victoire get married to make Teddy actually a part of the family (and has a more mature reaction than James Sirius on the idea of kissing). ...Hmmm, there's nothing here that I really look at and think "Why? That's just silly." So...that gives her the edge I guess. The complaints usually levelled at Ginny are that she's a Mary Sue, which...hey, technically Lily Luna doesn't have flaws either! But...she doesn't really have time to develop them.
(5)Cho Chang (12)Fang
So...the game here becomes how many people anti-vote Cho Chang. She's really a pretty interesting character; how many first-kiss scenes can you think of where the girl was crying? I mean, she's a total basketcase, and understandably so, but basketcases can be interesting.
(4)Ron Weasley (13)Crookshanks
You know, sometimes I wonder if JKR played a game where she tried to give Ron as many flaws as possible. There are definitely moments where Ron does something atrocious, and I stopped to ask myself "was that really necessary?" Not to say that Ron shouldn't have flaws--characters having flaws is good writing. But Ron has so many flaws that he feels...unfocused as a character. Unless his character focus is supposed to be "fails at life", but then there's a very good question that could be raised of "why is Ron in the trio?" I mean...Harry: child of destiny. Hermione: most talented witch of their generation. Ron: uhh...he was brought up in the wizarding world so he knows their stories and prejudices, so that's his contribution, but......honestly; like...they could have taken Neville and probably done better. That said, his opponent is a pet with no lines, and while I do think Ron's a bit muddled as a character, he's nowhere near sub-pet level.

One thing I will say: I...kinda want to see Ron vs Cho. Ron would stomp Fang making for a pretty dull round 2 match. But like...Ron vs Cho...there are so many things to hate about BOTH of these characters. >_>

See...book 2 Harry didn't really know magic...and more to the point didn't actually have a wand at the time, so a sword was pretty handy. I'm pretty sure a qualified wizard with a wand wouldn't have much use for a sword against a basilisk.
Past that, never during Godric Gryffindor's lifetime did the sword have basilisk venom--yes, after Harry was done messing around with the sword in the chamber of secrets it suddenly became quite useful, but that came centuries after Gryffindor died.... Plenty of founder items gained extra magic powers centuries later (several of them becoming horcruxes, for instance).

Oh wait, that's right: the sorting hat originally belonged to Gryffindor. Totally forgot about that. Yeah, that does raise my opinion of Gryffindor significantly. (The sorting hat is soooo the best founder object). Is that enough to push him above Lily Luna? Umm...you know, I'd probably vote the sorting hat over Ginny, so......yes, yes I think so.
