Finished up S-Ranking all the Main-OPS. Almost done beating all the Extra-OPS.

S-Ranking all the Extra-OPS is an entirely different matter however! I'll have to wait until I have the infinity bandana for that one so don't have to use supply markers for the Gustav Fulton

I just picked up the MGS HD Collection. After messing around in MGS2 for a bit I'm going to try out Peace Walker. So it's good then?

Just got it too. Man, it's been so long since I've played MGS2, I got turned around in the tanker and went all the way to the Semtex hallway at the end before getting to Olga

how much you like it though depends from person to person because it's format is pretty different from the other games. It's more mission based stages and extra missions on the side instead of a bunch of connected areas. There's also the whole building an army side of it by capturing soldiers and rescuing hostages. However Fulton Recovery makes it fun to do because you can just balloon guys right out the area and you don't have to drag them to a truck like you had to do in Portable Ops.

There's 32 Main-Ops which is the main story and then 128 Extra Ops which are all the various side quest type missions, harder versions of boss fights and monster hunter missions

then obviously the HD Edition makes this all better because you can use PSN to play online and no ad-hoc like in the original Peace Walker. Most missions can be done with 2 players and boss fights with 4 players. There's also a 6 player deathmatch mode too

one thing people need to be wary of though is that there's 5 chapters in the game, but the credits play after the 4th chapter and you get the normal ending and all that

but then the game continues past that with another final boss and ending that ends up giving you a better idea on why Big Boss ends up the way he does later on in the series.

Plus you get to build your own Metal Gear. Who doesn't want to do that?!

Been working on S ranking missions as well. Most of them were A ranked the first time through (main ops), and then Extra Ops are pretty easy until the custom battles start.

There's exactly one reference to Portable Ops in the game, in the very beginning. One of the characters going 'Let's forget about all that stuff'

It does replace Portable Ops as an actual game, but the story still works. Not much of a conflict between the two.

Peace Walker isn't comparable to the main games. If you like it, it's for reasons entirely separate from the other games (gameplay-wise... the voice acting and story are both MGS-level great).

Basically what I'm trying to say is that it's boring and soulless and about as fun as playing Risk alone.

Nah, PeacevWalker is fun for the same reasons as the other games. Totally kills MGS4 in gameplay and content.

We already had a couple in depth topics on that conversation, but I'm with foolmo there, I don't dig this game nearly as much as the other MGS games. But it's still pretty good stuff, I enjoyed it.

augh the final Gear REX fight on the MSF Deck. He takes so much more to tranq than the other versions. Keeps killing me before I can get the job done

I maintain that Peace Walker would've been better had they actually put in a squad of minibosses with weird powers instead of vehicles.

Obtained the design specs for the Infinity Bandana and the M47 which is the strongest rocket launcher. It can take down the normal Pupa in only 2 shots

Recently picked up the HD collection. I decided to play through MGS2 first. I can honestly say that it makes a whole lot more sense now that I'm about 8 years older than the first time I played it.
