Games that typically give incentives for completing a stage fast are good too.
I'm not talking about world record runs or anything, but games that are just designed to where you can complete them fast and efficiently. Not something that takes a ton of skill, but would require some to go through.

I can't remember the last time I tried to actually speed run something. I used to do it to old computer games like Duke Nukem and Commander Keen. I think SM64 may be the last game I legitimately played that way.
Then again, I've level rushed World of Warcraft, so I imagine that counts. My best time to 70 (BC era) without any outside assistance of any kind was about 4 1/2 days.
The only serious speed run I've ever done is when I completed Super Paper Mario in under 7 hours.
Skipping so many things was physically painful - turns out I'm the type of person who simply can't resist the urge to explore every single inch of the world, collect every single shiny trinket, and read every single word of available dialogue.
Zelda and Mario apparently since that's all people seem to ever speedrun.

Metroid: Zero Mission (considering it was literally made with speed runs in mind... plus you can get a run down in less than an hour pretty easily) Metroid Prime/Metroid Prime 2 if you're comfortable with glitches
Starcraft + Brood War (seriously, try executing some of the speed run strategies, they're hilarious)
