Overall game is good, but it has many cons, and a bunch of pros too!
Not too in-depth, I'm not good at long write-ups.
Pros :
-Voice acting
I'm usually someone who really favors written text over voice acting because it allows for longer dialogues. But we all know the MMO genre is well known for having weak dialogues, few are the MMOs that are good in that regard. Because of that I find voice acting to be a pro, the amount of text in SWTOR is pretty similar to a lot of AAA MMOs out there and it really does help for the immersion. Voice actors are good too, so there's that!
-Music and Sound Effects
MMOs probably have the least memorable music ever, partly because often it's not that good and also because most players prefer to listen to their own music while they kill rats. Though this game, since it's Star Wars, uses Star Wars music, and it's really great. And with the Star Wars music comes the Star Wars sound effects, lemme just say that the buzzing sound of a Lightsaber or sound of a blaster are extremely satisfying.
-Companions
At first when I heard about companions I wasn't really happy, I never liked AI controlled allies in video games, even if you can control them to some extent (In Mass Effect for instance). In this game though I feel like they're more like pets in other MMOs, well pets with a personality and a story and if they die it's not really dramatic. And there's also the fact that you can send them on crafting missions so you can play solo and still benefit from your companion.
-Crafting
Crafting in this game is pretty similar to other games, except that your companions do all the job for you. The only things you can do is gather resources (and not even all resources) and reverse-engineer stuff. Reverse-Engineering is pretty much the only reason why this game shows up on this list at all, I just love how you can get a recipe and reverse-engineer it until you get a similar recipe that makes a slightly stronger item, makes crafting things you don't really need not 100% useless.
Cons :
-The Galactic Trade Network (Auction House)
The GTN, holy crap, I've never seen such a piece of **** in all of my MMO career, bugged out the ass first but then there's the fact that you just can't search for an item by name before entering a category and a sub-category, heck sometimes I even have to do a search first before being allowed to type the item name. Why Bioware why? If I want to buy a piece of Silica I don't want to have to select the '' crafting material '' category and then the '' scavenging '' sub category, I just want to type '' Silica '' in the name field and be done with it.
-Crafting is unbalanced as hell, and mostly useless.
I know I put crafting in the pros, but only because of the mechanics. Crafting itself is terrible because it's totally useless except for one skill (Biochem). Why? Because at end-game not a single crafted item is better than what you can find by other means. '' But Ayuyu, those items are still useful during the journey to level 50 ''. Maybe, but getting to end-game can take lees than 2 weeks and you don't even have to rush. Do I really want to spend time and resources into leveling a skill that won't even be useful in the long run? No. So there's literally no point in leveling a crafting skill that isn't Biochem because it's the only one that gives item that stay useful during end-game.
-NPCs who don't speak Basic.
I totally understand why they exist, but I still hate them, reading subtitles becomes a pain when there's an ******* who speaks random gibberish in the background. The only NPCs I can support are Hutts, I don't know why, maybe because their voices are low-pitched and thus doesn't annoy me as much.
So yeah that's that, game is still good but far from perfect!

MarvelousGerbil posted... Anagram posted... I've heard all of the playable races use the same models, so they're all basically just humans with weird foreheads.
I'd have loved to play as a Wookiee, but I heard Bioware said that would interfere with romances.
Only because Wookie dicks would break humans in half.
I'm sticking with Cybertech in the hopes that they'll release some awesome schematics that you can't get other ways, like some 120% speeder bikers or something and then ka-ching! Rolling in dosh.
Also, co-op and PVP space missions would be friggin' sweet.

yeah, couple friends said that they didn't have any more quests on their worlds anymore because they utterly killed at it space fighting and pvp a lot. also is really easy to go to other planets to do small stuff. i'm not too far off from being able to dig around for stuff on the much higher level planets, get some resources, etc.
i'm sticking with cybertech as well here, but that's in part because 1) i'm bounty hunter so it makes sense that i'd do this to maximize my equipment's potential, and 2) friends and i have split up a couple tasks. the only one we're really missing between us is underworld trading. though we expect more guys to get on, so that should eventually solve itself.

There are people that actually like the space battle missions? Having grown up on X-wing and TIE Fighter I consider them a pretty big insult that should've been left out of the game entirely until they could put something better in.

I doubt we'll ever get intense dogfighting action but I'm happy with what we have.

Having grown up on Starfox, I think it's ****ing awesome.
From: GANON1025 | #017 Because I think it would make more sense than a british accent.
But you're an Imperial. You can't NOT have a British accent. That's like saying someone that isn't white from Britain shouldn't have a British accent because it would make more sense.
yeah don't get me wrong, while i'd prefer a better game, with better controls at that (motion and where you should should never overlap, even though you can force override with wsad it's not a good mechanic), it's pretty damn fun and different from the rest of the game. i wouldn't expect a full fledged game inside yet, but they could always tweak it down the road and improve it.
and for the love of god make it a pvp because there is NO reason it shouldn't be. it'd be better than playing that football clone.

no idea. but would it kill 'em to be able to not do some pvps, or to qeued for certain pvps, and not be thrown into a random mixer? yes some will die in the process. they'll die because they suck.

Seriously. If I were still playing, I'd boycott that damn 3 point dominion game until they remove those obnoxious turret sounds/superfluous explosions that cause the battle to be unnecessarily laggy and be realllly annoying to listen to.
Then I'd boycott Huttball until they make the jumping thing worth half-consistently and make classes with knockback not ridiculous against melee classes.
Then after those were fixed I'd just sort of not do that attack/defend one because it's really lame half the time.
