Week 3:
Lions: 26
Vikings: 23

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011092506/2011/REG3/lions@vikings#menu=highlights&tab=recap

One of several awesome comebacks by the Lions this year.

As a Lion fan, the start to this game was just incredibly disheartening. The vikings went up 20-0 early, and it was looking like maybe these Lions weren't so different from the old Lions. Jared Allen was an absolute beast throughout, getting pressure on Stafford countless times, and ending up with 3 sacks. As the Lions came back, Allen also had one of the most memorable sideline shots this year (up there with brady and his coordinator getting into it) as he paced around the sidelines yelling at seemingly everyone as the Vikings fell apart yet again.

Generally every big Lions game is either because Stafford was an absolute beast, or because Megatron was an absolute beast. This was one of those Megatron games. During the comeback he made a few absolutely disgusting jump ball catches, and in overtime he made an amazing willie mays esque catch to get the Lions in FG range. Pretty amazing game, and an amazing comeback.

HONORABLE MENTION

Week 3
Steelers- 23
Colts- 20

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011092514/2011/REG3/steelers@colts#menu=highlights&tab=recap

It was pretty clear just 2 weeks into the season that the Colts were going to be awful this year without Peyton Manning. I imagine if possible, the NBC would have shipped this game out for something else, but they couldn't do that till the 2nd half of the season, so we were stuck with the Colts on national TV.

but then HEY, it turned out to be a pretty great game. Everything about this game felt like the Colts were really laying it all on the line, they did not want to embarrass themselves on national TV. The defense especially tried to put the team on its back, with some key turnovers that kept them in it.

Things started looking bad though once Kerry Collins got hit by James Harrison and was out of the game. Curtis Painter entered the game (seriously, WHAT AN UGLY DUDE), and proceeded to fumble the ball. But then later on, the Colts magically pulled a great drive out of their ass to tie the game. Could they really do it? No. Big Ben proceeded to drive the Steelers down the field to win the game. This might not have been one of the best of the year, but after my extremely low expectations, I came away pretty surprised and entertained. After the Colts laid it all on the line imo, I feel they were pretty demoralized, and until the Orlovsky QB change, they were pretty dead for the rest of the year.

Week 14
Steelers- 14
Browns- 3

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011120800/2011/REG14/browns@steelers#menu=highlights&tab=recap

The game itself wasn't that great. What was great though was the amazing displays of quarterback toughness by Ben Roethlisberger and Colt McCoy.

Big Ben had a bad high ankle sprain. He was helped off the field, carted off to get x-rays. It seemed like there was no way he would play for the rest of the game. I was literally stunned when I saw him taking warm ups, and it was amazing watching him play the rest of the game. That guys toughness is borderline ridiculous (and unhealthy!)

Colt McCoy also played after taking a ridiculous helmet shot from James Harrison. We would later find out he had a bad concussion, but he also showed serious toughness... though unfortunately for the Browns, they were probably better off if he wasn't tough and they had Seneca Wallace playing instead. Oh well!

Week 15
Lions- 28
Raiders- 24

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011121808/2011/REG15/lions@raiders#menu=highlights&tab=recap

This was a huge game for both teams. The winner would be in a great spot to make the playoffs, the loser would be in serious trouble. That simple.

The first 3 quarters were OK, but this game REALLY heated up in the 4th quarter. Down 20-14, the Lions were driving deep in their own territory with about 7 minutes to go. The Raiders end up stripping Stafford of the ball and scoring a TD. The Raiders DO NOT go for 2 (thanks hue!) The Lions are down 27-14 with less than 7 to go. It's not looking good.

The Lions drive quickly though and end up in 4th and 2 inside the Raiders' 10. In a planned quarterback draw, Stafford breaks a tackle to barely get the first down, one of the best plays of the season for the Lions. They go on to score the TD.

Now the Raiders have a shot to run out the clock, and the Lions absolutely cannot stop Michael Bush. It's looking like the Raiders will win it. 3rd and 3, all they need is a decent Michael Bush run to win it. Instead they go with a passing play... and it's just a little overthrown by Palmer. This stops the clock and gives the Lions some time to work with. The play was eerily reminiscent of the Miles Austin-Tony Romo miss from a week before.

The Lions go on to drive, with Megatron making some amazing catches, and Stafford making some amazing throws (50 yards off his BACK FOOT, though it was an underthrow lol).

The Lions end up taking the lead with 39 seconds to go. One thing goes through my mind... "we just left Janikowski 39 seconds", thats how amazing he has been this year. The Raiders end up giving Janikowski a shot at a 65 yarder, The crowd goes NUTS as Janikowski walks on the field, it was pretty amazing. I was terrified that he would hit it. The kick ended up being blocked by Suh, who was fresh off his 2 game suspension, a great bit of redemption for him to cap off an amazing 7 minutes of football.

Week 17
Packers- 45
Lions- 41

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2012010108/2011/REG17/lions@packers#menu=highlights&tab=recap

This game was absolutely devastating for me. We go from facing an awful NFC East team in the first round to the Saints, sigh. Most however will remember this as the game Matt Flynn earned himself a huge paycheck. Right after Peyton Manning, Flynn will probably be the most sought after quarterback this offseason.

This game was the definition of a shootout. It broke the record for most combined passing yards in a game. And it happened while it was snowing, in windy conditions. Amazing. Some of it was bad pass D and not much of a pass rush from both teams, but seriously, Flynn and Stafford were just amazing. This game featured 2 amazing QB performances, simple as that. Tons of great catches too, if you like offense, this was your game. It was back and forth, crazy action.

On a side note, mini rant, the challenge system is dumb as hell. The Lions got screwed out of a TD in the 2nd quarter because we were out of challenges, it wasn't technically a "scoring play" because it wasn't ruled a score, so it couldn't be reviewed. If the ref had ruled it a score, it might have been looked at, then the call would have stood. Really annoying. But what are coaches supposed to do? Save their challenges? When you see a wrong call, you can't just hold onto your flags forever in case something else comes along, really frustrating. It's their own fault they lost, they needed 1 friggin stop, but damn. It hurts to talk about this game right now, but yeah, the highlights should entertain neutral fans.

Some, but not all. The Lions weren't playing backups. We have some injuries but yeah, our pass D has been pretty good this year, and he torched it. He performed way better against us than A-Rod did even. If a team needs a QB, I don't see how they would be idiots for signing him.

Got to disagree with Football here, Flynn's going to be a solid pickup for someone.

#10: Week 14: Broncos vs. Bears

Broncos- 13
Bears- 10

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011121111/2011/REG14/bears@broncos#menu=highlights&tab=recap

I almost never search for games online to watch, if they aren't on TV, "whatever". But Tebow is so compelling, I had to do it, and I wasn't disappointed.

Except this time, Tebow wasn't the most exciting person in the game... it was MATT PRATER.

This game kinda sucked for a while, until TEBOW TIME. Down 10-0, the Broncos finally scored a TD with a little over 2 minutes to go.

And then, we got to see 3 of the most memorable plays this season. First off, MARION BARBER RUNNING OUT OF BOUNDS. Still shocks me. Still. Absolutely amazing. The Broncos mount a quick drive (highlighted by an amazing play by Eric Decker to get out of bounds and get a first down early in the drive), to set up Matt Prater for a 59 yarder. In the altitude, but still, he NAILS IT. Crowd goes nuts, it's OT time.

Then MARION BARBER DOES IT AGAIN! A fumble in OT which leads to another Broncos drive, and another Matt Prater 50+ yarder. Amazing.

Ok maybe Prater wasn't the most exciting player in this game... or Tebow... it was definitely Marion Barber. God Damn.

Bills- 34
Patriots- 31

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011092502/2011/REG3/patriots@bills#menu=highlights&tab=recap

The Bills were 2-0, this game was everything to them. Not just to stay unbeaten, but to beat a team that always whoops them. Most projected that the Bills would be exposed as shams this game... and early on that looked to be the case. The Pats went up 21-0 early, and it was looking like a blowout.. when all of a sudden THE BILLS!!! With some solid play by Fitz and their receivers, and in an absolute shock, 4 INTs by Brady (after throwing 4 all of last year), the Bills managed to come back and win the game with an easy last second field goal. Pretty entertaining game, and the game where the Bills announced to the world that THEY ARE FOR REAL! NEVER DOUBT THE BILLS! PLAYOFFS BABY!!!

oh

well it was still a good game!

Packers- 38
Giants- 35

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011120410/2011/REG13/packers@giants#menu=highlights&tab=recap

Before the Chiefs ended the Packers unbeaten streak in rather anti-climatic fashion, this was one of the most entertaining attempts to beat the Packers. It was a total shootout most of the way, mostly highlighted by some amazing catches by Hakeem Nicks. Near the end of the game, the Giants managed to score a TD, and get a 2 PT Conversion to tie it up with 58 seconds. We have ourselves a ball game...

and then Aaron Rodgers LITERALLY effortlessly leads the Packers down the field for the game winning FG. If there was one flaw with this highly entertaining game, that was it. The last drive was ridiculously easy for A-Rod. sheesh, hes good.

Flynn is a fine QB, dunno if he's world beater but he could start for a bunch of teams. Like if I said Flynn or Bradford/Ponder/Gabbert/McCoy you probably don't need to think one bit about it. Then you can look at some of the other QBs around the league... Kolb... Orton... Cutler... Cassell.... Palmer... Skelton.... Flynn is either definitely better or worth discussion. Then you have some wastes like Sanchez or Tebow where it's hilarious those guys are in the league let alone starting... how good those teams would be with Flynn instead.

That fact that Skip Bayless was ranting that Aaron Rodgers wasn't the best QB because he couldn't lead a 4th quarter comeback the week before makes this games so much better

#7: Week 11: Broncos vs. Jets

Broncos: 17
Jets: 13

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011111700/2011/REG11/jets@broncos#menu=highlights&tab=recap

Like a lot of Broncos games this year, this was not necessarily a great game till the end, but man, what an end it was.

Down by 3, about 5 minutes left. The only Broncos TD to this point came on defense, and he was facing the Jets D (not necessarily the fearsome force it once was, but still very good). With 90+ yards to go, Tebow literally just put the team on his back. He had a lot of carries on this drive, often breaking 2-3 tackles, refusing to go out of bound over taking every yard possible.

But the most iconic play of the drive, perhaps the most iconic tebow play of the season, a huge 3rd and 4 on the Jets 20... tebow runs with it, makes it past the edge, and runs all the way into the endzone. The crowd goes absolutely bonkers, and Tebow's reaction is awesome as well. Rex Ryan just shakes his head and smiles. Just an amazing end to a fantastic final drive, that drive alone puts this game in my top 10.

#6: Week 10: Saints vs. Falcons

Saints: 26
Falcons: 23

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011111308/2011/REG10/saints@falcons#menu=highlights&tab=recap

Nothing better than a key divisional matchup in the latter part of the season. This was just a tight matchup most of the way, but in the 4th the Saints took a 10 point lead. The Falcons drove, converting a key 4th down (MORE ON THAT LATER), and scoring a TD to make it a 3 point game with about 4+ minutes to go.

From there Mike Smith decides to not trust his defense, which had actually played pretty well to that point, and onside kicks it. His defense semi bails him out, holding them to a FG attempt, but after a holding they punt.

So the Falcons drive down the field, almost lose the game (near pick, should have been picked), end up settling for OT with a FG.

In OT, the Falcons face 4th and 1 on their own 30... AND MIKE SMITH DECIDES TO GO FOR IT! If they make it, they still need to drive 30+ yards, if they screw up, Saints basically win. And once again, the Falcons D has been pretty good. They fail, Saints win. This was already a great game, but Mike Smith managed to make it 5x better with his absolutely amazing fear of Drew Brees leading to terrible decision making.

We go from facing an awful NFC East team in the first round

The Giants are far from being an awful team

they are overrated. their running game still sux now. Outside of a few playmakers on D, they have serious holes. Without a breakout year from Victor Cruz, theres no way they make the playoffs. I think the Falcons will expose them.
