while the ps3 has a bunch of great games, the list of noteworthy ps2 games greatly outnumbers them and i doubt the last few years before the ps4's release will change that.

i'm not trying to bash this generation of games so much as i'm noting the rising development costs and time for quality titles these days!

lol opinions and whatnot but I'd say the PS3 has a much greater list of 'names' and 'AAA' titles than the PS2 did in 2005.

PS2 had a great library in 2005, but in 2006/7, that's when it got a lot of the amazing stuff. PS3 is very end-heavy as well.

It's not just the fact that all those games pushed boundaries and did so much for their respective genres, but they all came out ONE YEAR into the generation.

We had that this generation, too. Holiday 2007 was a defining time for this gen, when a bunch of now huge series debuted or old series getting their first real new gen entry.

GTA carried it the way FF carried the PS1, but it still got lots of other good stuff. I gotta fend off the haters now but KINGDOM HEARTS came less than a year after FFX.

if you want to compare:

Bioshock
Portal/Orange Box
Mass Effect
Uncharted
Halo 3
Call of Duty 4
Rock Band

both had a nice combination of good sequels/great new IPs. the difference is that PS3/360 had sequels that blew away the originals whereas that's not always true with PS2.

Comparing PS3 and PS2 isn't fair at all - PS2 completely decimated last gen's competition. This gen, The only decimating is being done by a system that can't handle this generation's games.

Well this is quite wrong.

Wii-U early dev kits were locked and were about 50% more powerful than the PS3 and 360. The reason it was locked and no official specs were ever released was so Nintendo could change what they felt they needed to change. It's exactly why the outcry of having only one controller at a time made them rethink what they were doing and then come out saying that 2 controllers is a possibility and they plan to have working as such.

Devs reportedly got full kits months later but no specs were ever released. No one really knows what to expect from the Wii-U in terms of its full power. Just rumors and hearsay, but if early indications are anything the highest power difference we can expect to see is Dreamcast to Xbox, and even that is huge stretch. Considering not just Nintendo but Sony and Xbox will also seem to be trying to capture the casual crowd whether that be with Kinect type stuff, or pricing of their consoles.

$350-$400 his what I honestly expect the price to be at for the Wii-U, and it'll probably release shortly after E3(sometime in Q3, or around the time Darksiders 2 is released).
