Booking a trip there, and I'm looking at hotels. When my dad went out there, he always ended up at the Monte Carlo (it was for work) and he said it was a really nice hotel. I can book it for $50 for the first two nights, and I'm just wondering if anyone's been to it and what do they think.
Pretty much any of casinos close to the main part of the strip is fine. Stay away from stuff like Circus Circus or things that take you close to the center of Vegas.

There was a signature here. It's gone now. Your face is bees.
The Monte Carlo isn't really worth $50. Vegas hotels are really cheap.
Check out http://www.i4vegas.com/ and see all the deals going right now. I stayed at the Riviera for $26 per night through this site. But I mean you can even stay at places like Luxor for $35.

From: TheRock1525 | #006 The Riviera nicer than the Monte Carlo? How is it location-wise?
No no it's not nicer. I just stayed there because it was the cheapest place on the strip... and is actually a way nicer hotel than places like Circus Circus or Imperial Palace. I mean, they do go there in Vegas Vacation. It's basically across the street from Circus Circus. I didn't mind the location. It was like a 10 minute walk to Treasure Island.

Well it's only like $8 cheaper to stay at the Riviera than the Monte Carlo. If it was cheaper AND nicer, I'd stay there but I think I'll stick to the Monte Carlo.
Monte Carlo is nice, I can't compare the hotel part to the others, but it is in a good spot between the south casinos (MGM, Luxor) and the north (Caesers, Bellagio)

Haven't stayed at many, but I think any strip hotel is good outside of the real janky ones like Circus Circus. I liked Excalibur the most for its location and corny theme, but Monte Carlo is right next to it. Let me know when you're in town. I'll meet you up on the strip and then we can do a live podcast from Las Vegas blvd this is what B8 has always wanted right

Yeah, I can't speak for the rooms, but Monte Carlo is in a good location. It's more in the center of the major Strip hotels, making it easier to get around. They have a good buffet, too. I ate dinner there on New Year's Eve.

The Riv is way up north on the strip. It's a fine place to stay but it's way up north on the strip - when I stayed there a few years ago I ended up getting a monorail pass. Let's be honest here, you aren't going to Vegas for the hotel room, so if you have a nice mix of price/location, that'll be great. You can gamble/drink/eat anywhere you want.
btw, if buffets are your thing, I recommend Studio B at the M Resort. It's out of the way (like 10 miles south of the strip) and there's usually a wait, but the quality is insane. Free beer as well.

From: PartOfYourWorld | #022 That's dinner price, I'm guessing? I paid $16 for weekday lunch but the wait was an hour.
Yeah. And from my experience, lunch buffets generally have most, if not all, of the same stuff as the dinner selections, so that's even better now that I think of it.
