It's like a woman who buys/steals a lot of s*** to make up for the fact that she stays home all day while her husband goes and works or whatever (yes I know this isn't the 60s, but just go with me on this).

Most of the stuff she buys is amazing but ultimately it's just stuff. There's no strong core to it. That's why 2 is ultimately a better game than both, even though Brohood and Revelations have all those extra features.

Alright, AC2 was like, they made the cake batter and it came out flawless, so they just threw a layer of frosting on it and it came out good

With ACB, they tried to make the same cake batter, but the batter didn't quite come out exactly the same, so to make up for it they started adding different toppings to the cake besides the frosting
maybe some sprinkles, maybe some cherries or something else

It implies that the core of AC2 is better than ACB, but it's possible that the additions are enough to make up for it if that's what you're into.
