Well, topics here purge real quick. Anyways, went through two days of "training". Not necessarily training, but just working and learning at the same time.

Still confused about a lot of things, but that's okay, I guess. I mean, I'm gonna be "officially working" tomorrow, which means I'll clock in and out during my shifts.

I guess working is pretty cool, if you want the cash! The thing is, this job may not be the best job, but my boss is real chill and schedules can be real flexible. If you can't work at a certain day, well... They'll figure something out. This isn't a "super" serious job, co-workers just chat with each other and chill. I don't know them too well yet, and I only really know one of them. I've met three others, though, but they seem pretty cool too.

If I had to relate, working at a new job feels like learning how to drive for the first time. You're confused but you're constantly doing it and you'll get used to it. I really hope it's gonna be like that. On my first day of driving alone with my actual license and insurance, I was pretty nervous but the more I just drove, I got pretty comfortable. I'm still not the best at parking and I'm sometimes just way too cautious when estimating my car's size.

One of the best feeling about working is probably when you're about to get your paycheck. My first ever paycheck. Eh, even though I'll actually only be working 3 hours officially for this week, I don't mind.

Hopefully, working will be more fun when I get to know my co-workers more. Maybe ask them about how they like it here and how long they've been working.

By the way, I think I suck at doing my job. The cash register confuses me.

Lol, glad it's going pretty well.
Don't worry about the register, you'll get use to it. Took me a while to get a good flow going but once you do, it's super easy.

Yeah, and there's not too much work to do. Even if there is, I'm fine with it as long as it isn't dealing with the customers (yet)! If there's cleaning to do, I'll be glad to do 'em. Working sure pays off, literally. I know I'm not getting much but it's better than what I've ever got because I never officially worked before.

I'm not saying that I don't want to help customers, it's just that I'm confused when it comes to helping them.

I don't have enough experience around the workplace to know how to get things done without the help of my co-workers. That's fine, if it's a co-worker like my friend who referred me, but if it's another co-worker, I might feel like a burden to keep on asking them, especially when I don't really know them too well yet.

And yes, damn that cash register.

Anyone else gradually just got to being comfortable around your co-workers when you first worked?

I started in a new department (not a new job exactly) pretty recently so I know what you're going through. I'd never actually had to handle transactions before so using the register was new to me as well... You get better and faster with practice, so don't worry about that. But with the customers, I just ask as many questions as I can when it's not busy. The first couple shifts I was always bothering the other people working so I could learn more about the job. I absolutely hate the feeling of not knowing how to help a customer, so I just tried to learn as much about the job as possible during the slow times so that when it actually got busy I'd mostly be able to handle myself. I learned everything pretty quickly, and I'm sure you'll do the same.

Don't be afraid to ask for help... you're new and they shouldn't expect you to know everything.

Well, I think I seem to be getting the hang of it, though... Well, probably just some of it.

Most of the problem comes when the customer makes an order. Perhaps they want this or that and I get confused >_>

I do ask my friend (who's now a co-worker!) questions. Think I asked a lot about the job before I even got it. He doesn't even let me practice my ice cream mixing unless there's a customer who orders, so most of my learning now will probably come from the job itself. Hands-on T_T

Do you recall that topic?

Anyways, my phone really sucks. I need to get a new one because I just missed a text notification from my boss >_> Err, I hope it's nothing too serious. Like I said, the job's pretty flexible and I hope the boss will be lenient enough.

My phone doesn't notify me when I get a text message. No sounds or anything, I have to check it myself
