The story is meh - I think it's 6/10 - but the visuals more than make up for it. Easily one of the most beautiful movies ever made.

I went to an exhibit on Avatar recently.

They did their best to approach their designs from a scientific perspective. Like, how would the different atmosphere and gravity affect life on Pandora. They apparently even made a manual for how to assemble one of those walker things the humans had.

While the story left something to be desired, I can appreciate their approach to the environment and the visual details.

Dumb movie. Seeing it in 3D was cool, but that's it. I have no desire to ever watch it again.

Yeah, that movie was an insanely cool experience in IMAX. Probably one of my favorite movie going experiences ever.

Don't care to watch it again though, because I don't want to ruin the magic.

Gotta agree I saw it in 3D and i was completely amazed by the visuals. I dont really get why people bash the story either, yeah it's an old story thats been told 9001 times, but it's not like a lot of things are original these days.

A lot of movies still try a bit more than what Avatar did. Every single thing that occurred in that movie was absolutely predictable from the beginning. Which made it boring. The visuals in 3D were the only thing that kept me interested.
