For MM I usually go Bow Left, Hookshot Center, Ocarina Right for dungeons, and switch Bow with Bunny Hood for sidequests and such.

I think I originally put the bow on right when it got it for the first time 14 years ago, and just kept it there since on OoT, where as on MM with its vast amounts of changing equipment I just ended up getting comfortable with it on Left. Probably cause you use the OoT alot more in MM than you do in OoT, where you use the Bow alot more than the Ocarina.

I always had the bow/slingshot on center. Hook/Longshot on either left or right, same with the Ocarina, left or right. Didn't matter. And everything else switched out with left and right depending on what I needed. Center always remained slingshot/bow.

Left: Bow (Slingshot)
Center: Wildcard (usually Ocarina)
Right: Hookshot (Boomerang)

I keep the Ocarina in the center because that center is unique from the left/right (left/right are, well... left/right, they're linked like that), and the Ocarina is unique from the bow/hookshot in that it's the only one that can't be used for combat.

Same place I put Deku Sticks and Bombs when I need them: center. It's my wildcard. Once the slingshot/bow are on the left and the boomerang/hookshot are on the right, they are rarely replaced.

Man I never use Deku Nuts, other than when it's required. Was it ever? I forgot.

Anyway, Ocarina and Hook/Long shot and Boomerang (for kid) are ALWAYS there. Forgot the position.

Center is ALWAYS Ocarina. Literally never gets changed (unless maybe in MM when I need to do a ton of mask switching).

only thing that I had as a rule was Ocarina on C-Right

other 2 were situational based on what I needed at the time

luckily Ocarina 3D upgraded the selection to 5 items instead of 3 so it never really became a problem about what items to pick!
