I really hate to put Bug so low on my list, because the Bug types I actually love are among my absolute favorites. It's just... on the whole they're usually sooo weak. I almost always end up replacing them by game's end. On a related note, it took way too long for GameFreak to develop some actually useful Bug moves.
Top 5
5. Swadloon
So cute and squishy! Why Swadloon and not Sewaddle or Leavanny? Because it's the best, duh! But for real, I like Swadloon the most of its line which is saying something, because I the whole line is totally boss.
4. Joltik
Screw the fully evolved stats, Joltik > Galvantula 4evar!!! Just look how kwoot he is... ^*w*^
3. Volcarona
It's booteefull!!!! And those base stats are beyond outrageous. I believe it's the toughest non-Legendary Bug.
2. Heracross
Ah Heracross... such a bro! He's one of very few Bug types I have taken to fight the Elite Four with.
1. Scyther
Scythaaa! The most badass Bug ever. Point blank. Sorry Bosco.
Honorable Mention: Dwebble
God damn Gen5 did wonders for the Bug type. This cute little guy just narrowly beats out yet another Gen5 Bug, Durant for my HM.

Of all the humanoid giant bipedal Bug types with a 500 total base stat, Pinsir has to be my least favorite. Tbqh, it's always kind of creeped me out. Sorry again Bosco.
59. Kakuna
Matata! Remember when I said I love middle evos? That love generally doesn't apply to cocoons. The only Bug cocoons I legit love are Swadloon and Metapod. Kakuna, Whirlipede, Cascoon, and Silcoon can all suck it.
61. Combee
Vespiquen is in my top 10. Combore is in my bottom 5. BuZzzZzzZzzZzz *falls asleep*
62. Silcoon
Why Silcoon and not Cascoon or Whirlipede? Cascoon has cooler coloring than Silcoon's solid white (booooriiiiing), and Whirlipede was actually pretty neat in the anime. One mooore thing. I had a lot of awful experiences of catching Wurmples with perfect Dustox stats and complimentary Natures only for them to evolve into Silcoon. >_>
63. Beedrill
Beedrill just sucks.
Nah, I'm kidding:
63. Karrablast
Gen5 did indeed do wonders for the Bug type, but this guy is not one of them.
Dishonorable Mention: Paras
Let me start by saying I love Parasect (not enough for it to be in my top 6/7, but it's certainly in my top 10), but evolving one from this weaksauce guy is a pain in the ass. 4x weakness to common Fire and Flying and s*** stats makes him a crawling target, and though I think it's adorable I'm afraid this is one time when being cute won't earn a pokémon a free pass.

never played gen 4 or 5 (though I know some of 4's pokemon). List seems pretty good. A lot of the gen 5ers look well-placed (the ones in your top 5s look awesome in their pics and the ones in the bottom 5s look dumb like the trash pile and the thing who a dick for an arm). That centipede-horse thing looks awesome and I agree that a pokemon called Rhyperion would kick ass. Lots of potential there. Rock/Fire with a sun theme. They should've definitely done that instead of Rhyperior

^Yes Swadloon is one of the cutest Bugs ever, second only to Joltik and maaaybe Larvesta imo.

But Silcoon looks more delicate and Cascoon looks like a big meanie. ;_;

And not like 'perfect Dustox stats' matter because Dustox is ass anyway lol. Only thing that bothered me about their evolution method was when I got male Beautiflys. Laaaame.

Perfect stats matter when you're a perfectionist! I raised three stinkin' Wurmples in a row with the perfect nature only for my efforts to be negated.
Also nothing wrong with beautiful males lol, though I did kind of hate naming my Wurmples "Beauty/Belle" only for it to be a "Dusty" instead, or "Beau" when it turned out to be a "Dustin". I mean, it was no big deal as I could just find the Name Rater later and switch it up. But Natures are permanent! >_<
Edit: Come to think of it, I should've just put Wurmple's butt-faced butt in there... Ah well, I'll stand by my word.

You're talking to the guy who was breeding freaking WAILMERS in Sapphire because I wanted one with the 'perfect' nature. This was before all the Everstone Nature and Magma Armor stuff. So that's 10,240 Steps for each egg. And it's not JUST Wailmer either. I spent literally hours trying to breed 'perfect' nature for Pokemon that were nowhere near my favorite. Thankfully there came a time when I realized that I didn't have to give a **** about some of these Pokemon and their natures or whatever because they were ass/I didn't REALLY care about them. And that freed me up so much. Damn you borderline OCD regarding this stuff.
And there's obviously nothing wrong with beautiful males but in Pokemon there are just some Pokemon that should be one gender because they look too much like it. Beautifly's one of them.
Besides you only have to raise Wurmple to level 7 before finding out what it's going to be.
From: VitalVI | #182 Not my fault you suck at the game.
You don't suck just because you can't get off three consecutive SDs. If you're going against anybody competent, that generally won't happen unless they literally can't do anything to stop it (e.g. their last Pokemon is Umbreon or something).
Pinsir is one of the few Gen I Pokemon who actually looks legitimately intimidating. I've always liked it a lot; IMO, it's the best reason to pick Blue over Red.
Scyther, on the other hand, has always struck me as kind of off-putting. A praying mantis ninja sounds awesome on paper, but the concept wasn't executed very well, IMO - it should look badass, but instead, it looks somewhat derpy. Its sprites typically suck too, with some exceptions (most notably Platinum).

The best reason to pick Blue over Red was Sandshrew/Sandslash hands down. Not worth it if you have to put up with Pinsir and lolmagmar instead of Scyther and Buzz though.

Sandslash might not be as cool now, but... yeah, he was a BAMF back then, since Slash was much stronger.
Electabuzz indeed thrashes Magmar, though! I really underrated him in my 100 Pokemon topic last year.
