I'd never really thought about what life would be like if our planet were, say, a lot closer to our sun but if our sun were a dimmer star. If it were, would Venus have thriving life? There are so many anomalies and things to take into account when we look at planets in other systems.

We're a really, really dumb species, aren't we?

If our planet was closer to our sun it'd be a wasteland, plain and simple. The '' habitable '' zone is freaking thin and even then it doesn't guarantee life. The Earth as we know it only exists because of a ton of lucky coincidences.

And if the sun had been cooler maybe Venus could've housed life, though it depends if the extreme greenhouse effect that's affecting the planet would've happened in that case.

Also I have no idea how space travel could work with a species with an infrared vision.

I mean I doubt they could see faraway stars and all.
