From: Anagram | #095 It could have been better. Not much, but it could have been. I've heard some actors asked for reshoots with their lines and Lucas denied them, but I don't know if it's actually true or not.
Wouldn't surprise me at all. Lucas was extremely lazy when shooting. As we've seen from the RedLetterMedia reviews.

From: ShadowHalo17 | #091 I honestly think Hayden Christensen did his best with what he was given. Lucas wrote him to be a whiny b****, so that's what he portrayed. I honestly don't think any other actor could make Lucas's interpretation of the character any better.
Except Jack Black.
Oh man imagining that puts a huge smile on my face.
Then I will politely say we shall agree to disagree. I think there's a range of actors you could put in that position and deliver a performance that isn't cringeworthily bad. And t be honest the fact that Hayden has been flat terrible in the other films I've seen him in, and the fact that even though SLJ/McGregor/whoever were below par in Star Wars they were still far better than he was, indicates that he's kind of a lost cause and the role could have been passable, at least, with a competent actor.
For some reason I'm imagining Dan Gosling in that role right now. Could have been good.

Yeah a lot of Hayden Christensen's cringeworthy lines as Anakin are actually tolerable when you look purely at the lines. I mean, yeah, some of it is the writing but not nearly all of it.

I never did. I just didn't like the implication that it was all George Lucas' fault all the time and your kind of frothing hatred for his later work that you've shown in this topic so far implies that you kind of think that. But you don't so I don't mind.
You seem to be implying that it is a legitimate reaction to have anything but frothing hatred for George Lucas' later work.
I hope that's not what you meant.

Well I loved Revenge of the Sith - so much so I would almost consider putting it above one of the OT, but not quite - so...

I don't even usually agree with Moviebob, but if nothing else let this go down as the one where he nailed it.
TPM's not even especially bad. It's not especially good either, but it did nothing to warrant the miles of hate and frankly, incredibly poor behaviour it has gotten from fans.
RotS was pretty good though. AotC was the worst of the bunch.
