Nice, I'm liking my team quite a bit. This has also only increased my excitement for the new season! When I was younger I used to root for the 4th person shown on the opening credits going into the first episode. This is similar except I get to cheer on two more people! Hopefully I'll like them.

My rivalry with SuperNiceDog turned out a bit one-sided.

I have no idea what state my team is in. I think Kim will do pretty well if the women continue to fight, she doesn't seem to be at any risk. Monica seemed pretty close with Christina, and since I've got Monica and Alicia, seems there's a good chance one of them will disappoint me. Either way, women's tribe isn't doing so well, sadly. =(

Well that was lame. So now I'm basically out of the running unless I chose a winner

I also feel like picking the winner should grant some kind of boon in and of itself, regardless of how poor your team is doing on points. Because that's what the original draft was there for - to pick the winner. I just changed it around and added points to make it more interesting.

Anyway, Sanity, if you're still checking this topic, the top 3 that I see going FTW after episode 1 are Kim, Chelsea, and Jonas.

And pre-season I freaking had Kim as my #1, and Chelsea as my #2, yet decided to go out on a limb and pick Troyzan (my #3) ahead of Chelsea. Argh.

Although I think Kim is the current leader of the pack anyway.

I am predicting that if the women lose next episode, one of the minority alliance will be sent packing (Nina/Monica/Christina). And although we keep hearing about Alicia wanting Christina out, I don't think that'll happen if the women lose. That'll be a developing storyline that won't end after 2 episodes or so. So I'm betting either Nina or Monica.

If the men lose, I would not be surprised to see Matt get the boot. That idol play is getting spruced up for a reason. Colton is going to form an alliance outside of the Fit 4 and cause a ruckus. Although I don't know if Colton will go very far either. He was a little too weak for my liking in terms of longevity. He has pre-merge story written all over him.

Bill being completely ignored in the episode is bad for him. Dunno what to say about it right now other than he's not gonna win.

Most winners get a decent edit in episode 1. Usually we don't love/hate them (due to editing, not our own bias) right away. There were really no winner quotes (Fabio's "I'll take that nickname for a million dollars", Todd's "That's a loooot of money!", Parvati's "I'm changing my persona around this time", etc), though amusingly enough Troyzan did get the "this is my island, baby!" quote that stood out for me. I could see that being played back on finale night if he won. Then again, I could also see him being like, say, Jimmy T. or someone. But I don't see him as a Jimmy T. yet. Troyzan is someone that I think people are underrating after his episode 1 edit, as I could see him doing good things. The other Tarzan... not so much. That guy isn't winning either.

The main reason I'm fascinated by Jonas is because his edit feels unexpected. In the intro he was the only player to tell us something about himself. We saw Colton, Alicia, and Jay set us up for the introduction to the gender divided tribes - almost like it was some kind of joke on them - and yet Jonas comes in saying how he's a sushi chef and has a lot more skills than meets the eye. And he was shown complimenting Leif early on.

For whatever reason the editors wanted us to get to know Jonas in that way - a promising play he'll apparently be.

Then he also was shown making the deal with Christina - the only guy to really do that. And unlike Christina, he wasn't undermined by someone on his tribe for it.

It's not a lot, but for one episode, especially the premiere, it was good.

what really makes him look good imo is that they featured all this personal stuff about him even though he was not really part of any of the important storylines this episode. If he was just some player we aren't supposed to care about, they probably would have only showed him when he shook christinas hand.
