The Homestuck fanbase is a toughie. Certain parts of it make sure one of, if not the best fanbase around. The B8 fanbase is great, as and there's some absurd fan talent out there on the music, art, and even the fiction front of it, and it's a joy to discuss. Just lots of fun, and the great story and characters are a big part of that.
But there is definitely an ungodly awful section of the fanbase, too, though. No doubt. Some serious sickos. I don't follow MLP, but again, the B8 community is harmless, even with all the crazies out there. I will say that if you only consider the absolute worst cross-section of the fanbase, Homestuck is pretty bad in that regard, while as far as I know Bronies don't get that much worse. Which is why I consider them more comparable to Sonic fans.

For example, my girlfriend's roommate in college last year was the extreme anime stereotype person who stayed up until 6 am every night watching anime and squealing like a fangirl. AFAIK she never left the room except for classes, not even to eat since she had a stockpile of food in the room with her at all times. She was also short and fat with unkempt hair. Bioware fanbase is terrible yes but not in the same way as the Sonic or MLP fanbase.
Like Bioware fans see Bioware as some kind of deity and worship it as a God that can do no wrong, but fortunately they don't go creating all this awful and disgusting content (mostly fanfictions and porn) like Sonic and MLP fans do. Sure there is porn and fanfics of Bioware games, but much much less than Sonic crap and the amount of terrible MLP content is rising at an astonishing rate.
