A number of years ago I posted a very early rendition of this story on here, and a few people liked it. I'm not sure if any of them are even still visiting this board or not, but I figured I'd give it a try and post it again. Hopefully someone remembers it and it garners attention from new people. I'm hoping to self-publish it by the end of this year using Kickstarter, so I suppose this is some early advertising in a way, haha.

My goal for this story is to capture what it'd be like if there were humans with superpowers. A lot of works claim to do that, but I feel like a lot of works tend to start to lean more to the fantastical side. I'm hoping to capture a more realistic approach to the superhero genre (and I use the term "superhero" loosely, as you'll see if you read the story, it's not actually about "superheroes" perse). Ultimately I want this to be a three part book series, but for now I'd like to just focus on book I. :p Which, btw, could be a stand a lone book.

Anyway, here's the description that will be on the back cover of the book, or an early version of it:

Tobias McCall appears as an ordinary boy from the outside, until you seem him create flames with his hands and ignite his arms on fire. Although he has an extraordinary power, he lives a fairly ordinary teenage life. He has two best friends, girl problems, bullies picking on him, and school work. But when he tries to befriend the new kid at Smith High, his life gradually starts to become as unusual as his power. As if being a teenager wasn't hard enough, now he has to uncover the mysteries of the city while hoping to turn his homework in on time!

Smith City, a city where both humans and superhumans coexist, but mostly controlled by regular humans. The city is unknowingly being targeted for attack by a criminal mastermind that operates in the shadows. Strange things begin to happen in Smith City; monsters begin to appear, the mayor begins to act crazy, and teenage superhumans start to disappear.

The Red Elites are known as the unofficial defenders of Smith City. A group of the strongest and best trained superhumans in the city lead by Crimson Mask, they must bound together closer than ever to try and uncover the identity and plan of the criminal mastermind threatening the city before his plot comes to fruition. In a race against the shadows, who will prevail?
