I have a few friends who never smile with their teeth and rarely smile in any picture they take be it a driver's license or whatever.

Yeah forced teeth smiles are worse than grins. If you can't smile genuinely (like me) then you're better off without showing teeth.

this topic is incredibly stupid. to actually show my teeth to any kind of major degree I would have to smile so widely that I would look (and feel) completely unnatural. as I am not a 4 year old, I am more concerned with looking good in pictures than looking like a crazy person.

I'm embarrassed about my teeth, it feels uncomfortable to me, and smiling with my teeth usually looks really cheesy that's why I don't do it.

My friend who lives in Virginia said that you are actually prohibited from smiling in your driver's license photo there.

When do you show your License? When the cops pull you over? At the DMV? At Airport checkpoints? When someone IDs you for buying alcohol? Are you supposed to look happy in those situations?
