the game takes place during the American Revolution. Cool

However, the case clearly shows the wrong flag for the era:

This is what was flown during the time:

The Assassin's Creed case shows this flag:

The 13 stars flag is the post-revolution flag. The cover isn't necessarily depicting an actual battle. It's just showing some guys flying the new colonies flag, and some redcoat being killed.

The Flag Resolution, signed in June 1777, formalized the US flag as being composed of stars and stripes. The Betsy Ross version, with the stars arranged in a circle, came shortly thereafter.

The Treaty of Paris, which formally ended the war, occurred in 1783. The final significant defeat of the British came in 1781.

So there was plenty of time during the war for the flag to be around.

Good. I was starting to worry that a game in a series known for its 100% historical accuracy might get something wrong.

Yeah if you really wanted to complain about something, you could complain about a Native American wearing a white-dyed middle-eastern-esque cloak.

It's not really middle eastern-esque.

From the front, the cloak's lapels make it look like an officer's uniform. Whatever he's wearing underneath reminds me of the kinda dressy undershirts they wear. Though the boots and bow/quiver are definitely native american, what with the designs and leather tassels and all that.

But it's not like any of them care that much about being subtle! Ezio was running around with silky threads and a belt the size of a championship title belt in red with a giant assassin emblem on it.

I think late-Heian Japan would be more interesting
