When you were diagnosed, did the doctor do any tests or scans? No. What were your symptoms? You couldn't concentrate, you're fidgety, you weren't doing good in school, you had no desire to study. LOL. Thats like EVERY normal child. What child actually wants to hit the books? What child can sit down for long periods of time without moving?

And yes, drugs can help you concentrate, do better in school. Those drugs can help ANYONE. ****. I've taken adderol to study for tests...I learned an entire class worth of organic chemistry in 1 day and got a B on my final. Without adderol I would have failed. I wrote 40 page lab reports in 12 hours, overnight, and got 94 and 96% on them, for physiology...it was the high in my class..for BOTH reports...in a notoriously difficult class. Its VERY subjective saying I dont NEED it. Do I have ADHD? Hell no.

What you guys DO have, are issues and problems. Esp as a child, you don't know how issues effect you. ADHD is a strong indicator of family problems in your household. That should tell you its caused by your environment, not biology.

Every person in the world has issues of some sort. Does that mean we start prescribing drugs to everyone?

Bottom line, its bull****. When I become a doctor, I'm not diagnosing anyone with it. I'm going to prescribe parenting books to the parents, and recommend a balanced diet, exercise, social activities, and a loving environment.

Well this has some merit. I was "diagnosed" with ADHD as an adult but I didn't take it seriously, I just wanted the adderall. I do agree with the "issues and problems" thing Strahax. Mine through school were lack of motivation, indifference to education itself, my focus issues were about things being boring and me not giving a s***. If I happened to retain information, I would do well and I did okay in school without putting in any effort. College didn't work the same way unfortunately. In any case, it could be my parents' fault. They probably were too easy on me and didn't discipline me enough. If they had been more strict, perhaps I would have been forced to resolve my issues... There was one problem though. My temper has always been very bad and I don't react well to discipline. If I feel as though someone is attempting to punish me or "teach me a lesson" and I do not agree with it, I tend to go into a sociopathic state in which I become capable of doing some f***ed up s***. While your proper parenting would have possibly helped to curb my "tendencies that are attributed to ADHD" but at the same time would have created far worse problems. ADHD was a result of a compromise, a middle ground that my parents chose. Punishment would often lead to destructive and/or psychotic behavior, so they were hesitant, but when left to my own devices, I generally used common sense and did not push boundaries that I felt were reasonable. Stricter parenting would've led to me doing bad things and more than likely my parents would've had to send me away... probably to live with my aunt and uncle in Bel-Air. Strahax. Strahax. Strahax. Strahax. Strahax.
