Maggette can't do what Melo did last night; put an entire team(city) on your back and say F It were not losing.
The reason NBA teams hate trading superstars is because there is no replacement. Even if they get 99 cents back it isn't a dollar.
Melo couldn't do it, either. Denver didn't accomplish a damn thing until Chauncey Billups came along, and since trading Melo they're doing the exact same thing that they were doing WITH him.
Melo sucks at taking over. This year, his clutch statistics are horrible. .354 FG%, .392 eFG%. One game doesn't suddenly make Carmelo the take-over master that you seem to want him to be.
Carmelo isn't a superstar. The number of people that deserve that label can be counted on one hand, and Carmelo isn't one of them. It's why Denver could trade him and still be successful at about the same rate. It's why New York hasn't experienced some huge uptick in winning percentage. Blame Amar'e all you want but you know what, they were 28-26 before Carmelo became a Knick. Both of these guys are ridiculously overpaid and the Knicks are going to be a perennial 7-8 seed with them both under contract.

melo does better when he's the only offensive-minded player on the floor. he doesn't seem capable of playing off the catch. it's why he flourishes so much when amare/lin are off the court.
top 7 depressing games... jeez... i don't think i could pick just 7! and i'm not sure i care to relive the experience!

The Western Conference playoffs have some suspense this year. They'll be pretty fun to watch. Can see any of 4-5 teams making the WCF.
Eastern Conference...well it certainly looks like it'll be Heat/Bulls ECF rematch, though the Celtics and Knicks will likely not go quietly into the night. Though the Knicks have a shot at the 6 seed by virtue of the Magic imploding, it's likely they'll have a first round matchup against either the Heat or Bulls, which has massive epic potential.

Didn't realize that Dallas was that close to falling out of a playoff spot. Suns will be within 1 game of them with a win tonight(which they should...up by 20 with 8 minutes to go).
Shanon Brown has been playing pretty well too since he took over for injured Grant Hill.
Melo is a superstar. Period. Replace Amare with someone like Greg Monroe who does the tough things and the Knicks are an elite team. The dude can be a ball stopper, but he's getting better at it. He gets his team involved and if you watched the game you saw it. More importantly, Melo connects with the New York crowd. They love each other. When he single handedly kept the Knicks in close games vs the Celtics, New York respected it even though they got swept.
Anyways, Celtics will stomp the Magic. Knicks would rather get Chicago than Miami.
The Grizzlies are going to be terrifying and none of it matters because Miami is going to God Stomp.
We are still all Witnesses.

realo, the knicks already have a guy who's better than monroe (and the 2nd best center in the east). also melo and the knicks got booed like hell in their home games last year's playoff series
huge win for the celtics here
ideal path is orlando, NY, miami (or if we manage to draw someone else in the ECF, all the better)

No. He's not. Period. End of sentence. There is no argument for Melo being a superstar other than "durr he takes over/scores da points." There's too many of these pseudo superstars that get that label because of their willingness to overshoot and ball-stop. The fact that Carmelo is having the worst season of his career and you still want to argue he's a superstar is ridiculous at this point.
If he's a superstar then so was Mark Aguirre cause they're basically the same player.
Also, don't suggest replacing Amar'e with Monroe. Dumars might overhear you and actually do, at which point I will not see my 26th birthday as a free man.

Oregon State would have had their best chance to win the Pac-12 and go dancing next year but Cunningham declares for some reason and now UCLA will be a powerhouse again.

From: SirDiemsma | #270 anyway that celtics game was awful, but a triple-double's a triple double, and a win's a win. now 2-0 in the whole 5-games-in-6-nights thing
yeah. the officials did not want that game to end in any sort of graceful manner

Okay so do we WANT the Bobcats to end up with the worst winning percentage of all time? I'm not sure which side I'm on because it'd be hilarious but also sad.
And what do we want the new name of the Hornets to be?
The Bulls are going to end up with the 2 Seed...I just know it.
If the Mavs don't pull something the Pacers will look to make a statement and their currently riding a 7 game winstreak. I feel weird seeing the Pacers with the 5th best record in the NBA.
Then the Bulls will be stuck playing the Knicks in a 7 game series... Here's hoping Amare's return ruins Melo's groove.

it's either the knicks in round 1 or the celtics in round 2 ... ain't no easy outs! i think miami would actually rather face knicks and pacers than sixers and celtics....
