-That isn't absolutely unbearable to play for free. -That's more like a straight RPG than an Evony clone or League of Legends or something, although I could probably be talked into something sufficiently awesome that doesn't fit the criteria exactly. Especially if it involves CARD GAMES. -That lets you play pretty much however much you want. I'm playing Billy Vs Snakeman, which is awesome, but runs on a stamina system, so I can't always get my fix. -That maybe somebody else 'round here plays. -Browser based would be preferred- I switch a lot between Mac OS and Windows, and I don't think many clients will run on Mac. Even if they do, it'd be less of a pain if I didn't have to install everything twice. >_> -I tend to gravitate towards anime-ish things. <_< -An actually decent game would be nice, although my understanding is that you can at best pick two of online/free/good. >_>
Ragnarok Online is pretty damn good for f2p players now, like the rare advantages you get if you pay is a tad more XP (but the grind was so greatly reduced that it doesn't matter much) and a few buffs here and there that lose their use at high level.
No stamina system so play for as long as you want!
Style is animish! 2D sprites for characters and monsters, world in 3d, high quality sprites too!
And it's decent, lived for a long while and still going strong and updated regularly. I don't know if the game can run on macs though, but I bet it's possible somehow.
If you play go on the Yggdrasil server so I can help you!
You know the cliche. Good free MMO, pick 2. I mean, they can be fun. I certainly had fun with DFO. But perhaps you should consider a formerly-subscription-based MMO or a private server.
The class are pretty damn balanced except for the '' Extended '' classes who'll get a boost eventually, one of them actually got an evolution in Korea so the rest will come.
Also a good thing about Ragnarok Online is that it's a 100% non-linear game, a lot of mmorpgs have you hop from zones to zones to level but in RO at any level there's at least a dozen different places where the xp is good and they're at all very spread out.
Also a ton of non instanced dungeons with boss at the end (who are almost always dead since it's no instand!)
Oh and RO is not really dependent on quests, now to level they implemented those kill x things quests to speed things up but they're far from necessary, got to 80 without them in like 3 days. There are other quests though, they give items, XP and give access to other locations and man some of them are long.
Atlantica > LOTRO > Dungeon Fighter Online (but only because everyone disappeared from lower levels after like a week, it's actually the best for combat/experience)

"And the theoretical maximum is 2880 messages, so I was only performing at 45.94% posting efficiency." - Luster Soldier
Just play TF2. Totally free and lots of ways to play, depending on the class, and you get a lot more out of the game with much less time than most MMOs, and it runs on PC and Mac, and the settings and such sync in the Steam cloud so you don't need to worry when switching computers.
my only experience with F2P MMO's is maplestory, my only advice is- do not play maplestory. thankfully no one has recommended it so this warning might be unnecessary!
(though MS does do decently in aesthetics in being animeish as you requested, it's just awful in terms of being a video game)
