But how are Osten and Ian asking to be voted out (verbally), different than people like BB and Jeff from Palau asking to be voted out (but on paper)?
It seems like splitting hair. Probst was just too lazy to go to TC in Palau, because of the challenge length. And in PI, Osten told everyone who wanted voted out, and Jeff seemed to just take it into his own hands and call it a quit, even though he went through a verbal vote, despite this same situation having happened many times where someone just asks to be voted out, and they are, and it wasn't called a quit.
Go back and watch episode 7 of Pearl Islands. At TC, Osten specifically said the words, "Yes, I'm quitting." Jeff's go around to the tribe was asking if they had any objections to granting him his wish, not necessarily a verbal vote.

I think everyone just gets pissed off more if you quit further in the game (especially if you are a juror) or in fairplays case, are a fan favorite everyone wants to see do well. jeff and BB were pretty inconsequential.

BB is only remembered today because he was in the first season, and pretty much all 16 of them, even the inconsequential ones like Dirk, were pretty much national celebrities. If BB were in the Guatemala to FvF range, he probably would be completely lost among the rest of the nobodies that came during that time.

To further elaborate on my previous post, Jeff Wilson is one of the handful of Survivor contestants (less than 5 I'd say) that I couldn't name by their picture.

By the way, Slaps, I'm about to watch the merge episode of Vanuatu, here's my ranking of the pre-merge people:
John P > Bubba > Dolly > Brady > John K > Lisa > Mia and Brook (they're about even)
John P was hilariously clueless Bubba was silly sometimes on the verge of irritating Mia and Brook were pretty terrible The rest (sorry, including your precious Dolly) were just meh.
Although I will say that one of your faves that I used to hate is potentially top 5 for me now.

AdmiralZephyr posted... We can argue on this all night.

I don't remember the exact wording, but didn't it take a while for Jeff to draw that out of Osten? I feel like Osten added something about "whatever you want to call it" after Jeff said "quit", when he initially just wanted his tribemates to vote him out, because he considered himself a liability, and Jeff turned it into something else by constantly inserting the word "quit". Didn't Jeff even say something like "seems unanimous" and say they didn't need to vote because everyone agreed? It just seemed like a verbal vote mixed with Jeff wanting to do something new.

John P was great. He would be so ideal for a second chances season. Bubba was ok to me. He had his moments, but he's pretty middle of the road. Dolly <3 best second boot ever. Brady was the most boring person all season. John K not ranked last? How? Lisa was great, but I can see why some people don't appreciate her. Mia was great, and I can definitely see why people would hate her feistyness. Brooke was kind of a douche.
Who was it you used to hate? Sarge? Twila? I liked both, especially Sarge. He was my favorite for the longest time that season.
Yeah its tied between Shii Ann and Boston Rob, who were both the 7th voted out in their respective original seasons. Unless I'm forgetting something major.

Yeah, Shii Ann and Boston Rob were the only pre-merge people to make all stars IIRC
and they were both the last boot before pre-merge IIRC
there is no way monica gets on an all stars or even a second chance...she didn't even have a good edit for a pre-merge person or do anything memorable.

Yeah, he's in the category with Gretchen, Varner, Clarence, Roger, Savage, Rory, Brandon, Nick and Joe that were each the first boot at the merge, thus not making the jury. I wish they still did that.

personally I think watching hot dudes win challenges is more fun than watching old lady jane win and then go on screaming something that sounds like she forgot to put her teeth in
but i think we need to get over this whole "big muscle guys win all the challenges" and being surprised when women are good at balancing or whatever. no women beat the muscle guys at STRENGTH challenges, so it isn't really impressive. they mostly put strength stuff pre-merge, and even then its usually half the challenge at best. post-merge they try to make things fair and it is more just athleticism/balance/puzzle based than strength.

also i probably liked monica more than i normally would have because she was the only girl other than chelsea who was shown to actually do anything useful
