Hey sess, I was thinking about this today. It seems to me that a pledge is just a pledge without someone with the elbow grease to see that it is followed. So I have an idea:
You could find examples of discriminatory posts (or have people bring them to you) and analyze them for how they are discriminatory. This would set a good example and everyone will be on the same page. You could even have a point system where people lose points for being discriminatory in religion and race. Maybe people could even gain points for being open minded. Just throwing out ideas.
I, Lockes Ragnarok, hereby pledge to not discriminate against other users based on their religious beliefs. I will respect all faiths regardless of if they agree with mine or not. I will treat each person equally, and will not post in a manner that forces another user to feel uncomfortable about their religion.

Again, I personally don't care how you feel about them internally. I just think we would be better off as a community if we didn't ridicule and mock others.

I would love to reward people for showing tolerance in such a way. I feel like going on witch hunts against the other side though would be sending the wrong message. I might posts examples of posts and remove the username though to show people why they are wrong though. thanks for the input man

I would like to apologize for my potentially offensive statements in UCA, calling myself a Holy Champion, and thus religiously superior to everyone else. I would also like to clarify that I am simply playing a character, and that character is a bad guy, ergo religious intolerance is bad.

I appreciate your efforts to raise awareness about the need for religious tolerance on this board.

this is the same logic that more extreme religious people have behind their actions.
That wasn't meant to be discriminatory.
I know, but that's the way the world works in my opinion. I'm an atheist and honestly don't really care if other people believe or not, but if you want a religious discussion you can't respect the other person's beliefs, because that's just the way religion works.

Says you. I guarantee that I've experienced significantly more discussions about religion than you have, and a large majority of them have been respectful from all sides to all sides.

If I consider a faith harmful and disgusting, I'm not going to respect it. It will be ridiculed as it deserves.
I'm on board with this. "Tolerance" only goes so far in my books. If we want to get controversial, I believe that Islamic values, literally construed, are the single greatest threat to Western secularism, and shouldn't particularly be respected.

Christian values are the single greatest threat to Western secularism but keep fighting the good fight on disrespecting Islam. That whack-jabble deserves nothing.

I'd argue that Christian values aren't taken seriously enough in the Western world for them to pose a significant threat, but it's enough that you and I agree on the central point. The commitment to "tolerance," even of intolerant beliefs, is the kind of feeble weak-mindedness that leads to cultural decay.

I get that you're trolling and everything, but I find it rather silly to champion the naive, preschooler notion of "Everyone deserves to be treated well!" as some universal principle of human conduct. The crude reality of the world is that we all have values, and some values are simply incompatible with others.

Only on Board 8 is asking people to not mock other people's religions considered "trolling"

This topic is sanctimonious and showy. If serious (and I'm still on the fence about how I feel on this one), it's also childish and naive. Well-intentioned, I'll give it that.

You are like the 6th person to try something like that in this topic. It wasn't funny the previous times, it wasn't intelligent the previous times, and now you've just made it even more stale than it already was. Congrats man, keep up the quality posting and contributing.
