I just moved in with my aunt and uncle short-term. They have a Linksys router. I tried playing around with it a bit but couldn't get much going, and that kinda messed stuff up in other areas. It's set on WPA, whereas my router from my previous home was WEP (because it was mine, so I had no qualms with lessening the "security" of it to make connectivity easier). Since this is not my router, I don't want to mess with it too much just to accommodate myself. That is rude. I'm sure they want to keep it as a WPA as well. And I know it's possible to connect to that, but I can't figure it out. So maybe one of you can!

I'm not actually hopeful for this. Maybe there's just no way my PS3 will connect at all. But that sucks because I wanna play online ;_;

I never had any problem changing between WEP/WPA for my PS3. It's my DS that had to be on one of them. The only thing I can tell you (assuming you did everything else right) is to switch to WEP. I have no idea what this means or does but yeah. Talk to them first.

PS3 shouldn't have any difficulties connecting through WPA/WPA2. I recently bought a new router and had no problems whatsoever.

Maybe they set a limit to how many devices can be connected wirelessly? All I can think of.

Yeah I figured there shouldn't be any problem with WPA. But alas my PS3 can't connect.

Okay I'll make a late night bump for now. Maybe someone in the morning will have more ideas for me? Probably not. But I honestly don't know what else to do. I have searched all over google and s***. My last hope was for someone here to possibly come up with something.

I really don't understand it. The router is WPA, sure, but my PS3 is a newer 80 gig. It shouldn't have any problems connecting. But of course it is. I can't figure out why.

Have you tried manually entering all the stuff? IP address and all that?

I really have no idea and can't offer much help as I don't own a PS3.

Whatever it is, it has nothing to do with it being WPA or WEP. I have a launch 60GB and I've switched through WPA2, WEP, and just just about everything in-between without any problems. I think Weaku might be onto something in saying that you might have to adjust some options to "allow" the PS3 to use the network.

Possibly but I don't know how to go about doing that. Which is the problem. I am very aware that the whole WPA or WEP or whatever shouldn't be a problem. The fact is my PS3 won't connect. The router here is WPA. Something is wrong, obviously. And I need to figure out what.

It's late, I'm about to go to bed. When I wake up maybe I'll try to play around some more while thinking about what weaku said. Possible I'll figure something out. But I doubt it. I've already messed around enough. I even screwed up the modem and didn't realize it until my aunt said she couldn't connect to the internet. So I fixed that.

I just don't know what the hell could be the reason why my PS3 won't connect.

Bump.

Still looking for ideas. I doubt it's the limit on wireless devices.

Okay so this is weird. My PS3 is actually connected... but I can't utilize it in any way. It still fails when I try to play multiplayer. It also fails when I try to access the Playstation Store (it opens at first, but then says there's an error and can't load any of the options).

I don't understand what the hell is going on here. This is just ridiculous.
