There's a trophy for going into the Casting Theater and having Rose be Raiden and Raiden be Solidus in the cutscene where Raiden kills Solidus.

I prefer to have Office Lady as Raiden and Rose as Solidus.

But yeah, I can see how that would color your expectations and then confound you in the end. To be fair though, most people who were blind going into the game back in 2001 thought they'd be playing as Solid Snake and then Raiden happened, so honestly, this isn't really a 'you' thing in the end. Just a unique brand.
