NBC is showing the CBC feed.

And it's not like they're just being homers though. They're talking about how good the Kings fourth line has been. Which is just not the case at all.

Oh I mistook CBC for CNBC. So even for the playoffs, the late games don't get neutral announcers?

Most of them do, but NBC doesn't have enough crews to cover all of them. Look at the onscreen graphics, it's an easy way to tell what feed you're getting.

I still love Hughson because he served as the announcer for the greatest video game of all-time.

NHL 98.

And him loving the Canucks doesn't hurt either. I mean he was born in BC and has worked most of his career broadcasting for the Canucks in some capacity.. give him a break imo.

Not to mention that CBC has never been neutral. They will always favor the Canadian team, so it doesn't really matter if the Canucks or the Canadiens are playing, they won't be neutral

I also loved Hughson due to his involvement with the NHL games. Still, he seems to have gotten worse over the past few years (likely coinciding with the Canucks being contenders) and while I don't mind some homerism it seems to be that CBC has taken it a bit too far for my taste over the past couple of seasons. It's not a big deal but at this point I'd rather have the NBC announcers to the CBC announcers.

The thing I don't like about NBC announcers is that sometimes it feels as though they're describing the game to someone who has never seen hockey before. They'll take time to explain things that don't require explaining and things like that. They're not bad, but I do get annoyed with them sometimes.

A bunch of hilarity. Absolutely no defense. Penguins got a bunch of penalties right off the bat. Flyers took advantage and scored. Then in the second period they switched roles and the Flyers were taking a s*** ton of penalties and the Penguins capitalized and actually focused on playing instead of gooning it up.

It was a terrible game as far as hockey goes, but the first two periods were utter hilarity.

Pens felt like scoring
This series tied the record for most goals in the first 4 games of a series
Next record to beat: Most goals scored in a series. They only need to score 25 more goals before the end of the series. Seems doable

Luongo is going to Edmonton for the first overall pick

Why would Luongo waive his no-trade to go to Edmonton?

Tampa feels like a possibility to me (Luongo wants to go back to Florida, they need a goalie and his cap hit isn't much higher than Roloson's lol) but who knows.

Eh, CBC has always been pretty homerific for Canadian teams. In 2006 their level of homerism for Edmonton absolutely drove me up the wall and made me hate that team (where it had previously just been general dislike for a divisional rival). And of course the pro-Leaf bias is always pretty obvious. Chances are you're probably just more bothered when they're being homers for the teams you like less.

Well since I'm bored, I'mma request that you all list your top 5 players on your team, and then your top 5 players in the league excluding your team. Not counting goalies.

My top Blues:
1. Andy McDonald (SO FAST)
2. TJ Oshie (what a stud)
3. Alex Pietrangelo (best defensemen)
4. David Perron (dem handz)
5. Vladamir Sobotka (17 is my favorite number also he's f***ing awesome)

Honorable mention: Patrik Berglund (it's incredibly difficult to get him off of the puck)

Top five in the league:
1. Steven Stamkos (mancrush)
2. Marian Gaborik (favorite Rangers player aside from Lundqvist)
3. Pavel Datsyuk (ugh I should hate him but he's just so damn good)
4. Claude Giroux (He was only somewhat cool before but this Flyers/Pens series has made me like him more)
5. Jonathan Toews (why is there a Red Wing and a Blackhawk here? This makes no sense, but Toews is actually kinda cool)

I think Malkin should actually be number 4, with Giroux as 5, and Toews as an HM. But right now it's difficult to place a Penguin on my top 5.

Why not...

Canucks

1. Cory Schneider - He hasn't ever disappointed me, which I can't say about many people on this team.
2. Henrik Sedin - One of the best players in the league, also hasn't missed a game since the lockout
3. Daniel Sedin - Every bit as good as Henrik, but has had a couple injuries
4. Kevin Bieksa - Best D-man on the team since we traded Ehrhoff, takes some dumb penalties, but is one of our few fighters
5. Maxim Lapierre - Literally never stops yapping, it's just hilarious to watch him on the ice

The League

1. Milan Lucic - He's from Vancouver and he kicks ass in pretty much every aspect of play
2. Scott Hartnell - The hair
3. Evander Kane - Was exciting as hell in the WHL and I think he'll turn out to be a great goal scorer in the next few seasons. Also from Vancouver
4. Henrik Zetterberg - Not sure why to be honest.. maybe it's the name
5. P.K. Subban - Because he's black?

My top 5 Red Wings:
1. Pavel Datsyuk - Everything he does is awesome.
2. Darren Helm - Super fast and always works super hard, great guy. Just needs to learn how to score.
3. Gustav Nyquist - Yeah he's just a rookie BUT HE'S GONNA BE AWESOME. I wish Babcock would give him more ice time.
4. Henrik Zetterberg - Not quite as dominant as he once was, but still great at both ends of the ice.
5. Nicklas Lidstrom - He's been dependable for almost 20 years.

Rest of league:
1. Jonathan Quick - I hate how he's so good when he's an opponent, but otherwise it's amazing how good he can be.
2. Teemu Selanne - One of those "How can anybody hate him" guys, even though he plays for a hated team.
3. Evander Kane - He's a tough guy who plays hard, I want to see more of him.
4. John Tavares - Sucks that he's on the Islanders
5. Martin St. Louis - Great passer, makes everyone he plays with better.

As for your silly "Red Wings", I don't even know of Helm and Nyquist. Although I think I've somewhat heard of the latter. But while reading down your list I was like "where the f*** is Lidstrom?" Until I got to the very end... what? At least he made an appearance on your list, although I think he's three spots too low. Datsyuk, Lidstrom, and Zetterberg are the top three Red Wings to me. Not that I care because f*** the Red Wings!

Used to live right near Detroit, now I live about a 2 hour drive away.

Nyquist I can understand you not having heard of, he may still technically count as a rookie next year because of how little he's played, but he's been great for his previous teams in past years.

Helm has been injured for the past few weeks, so he hasn't been playing. He's a third/fourth line guy who's really quick but doesn't score many goals. He's a forward who can really help on the penalty kill and can also make a blocked shot/turnover into a quick rush the other way. Here's a clip from the playoffs a couple years ago when he really made his mark, doing work during a penalty kill:
