Kings vs. Sens SCF let's do this.

Even with the Flyers ousting the Pens, this would still be the best Stanley Cup playoffs ever if this happened.

So now we have...

Blues vs. Kings confirmed (Blues realistic pick, Kings hopeful pick)
Coyotes/Hawks winner vs. Preds (Preds win either way, imo)

And nothing set in stone for the East besides the Flyers advancing.

I liked the Kings matchup against Vancouver, its why I picked the series to go 7 to begin with.

The Kings' offense was shockingly good against Vancouver which was weird. The Kings are the kind of team that aren't going to overcome an early 2-0 deficit in most cases, though. If you can beat quick rather early like Vancouver did in game 4, that's how you beat them. If the Blues ever have a 2-0 lead in any game, the game is over right there.

I can't say the same if the Kings have a 2-0 lead against the Blues.

Blues/Kings should be a great defensive battle. I'm hoping for more close games and overtime!

Nashville should be able to handle the winner of PHX/CHI.

I was rooting for Washington today and they certainly had their chances to close out the series. Gonna be a tough game seven for them in Boston.

I'm not so sure about this. Statistically based on this year's regular season, yeah, but the Kings haven't been NEARLY as offensively inept in the last couple months. Kings have PLENTY of offensive talent, they just underachieved most of the year.

Blues have some good offensive talent too. McDonald especially. He missed over half the regular season, and when he got back he made a clear difference to the team. He's definitely a difference maker, and he's one of the main reasons we beat the Sharks. Oshie, Perron, Steen, and Arnott have some good scoring potential as well.

They didn't underachieve in round 1, the problem is sustaining that. They basically blew their last two regular season games to the Sharks with the 3 seed on the line, including blowing a 2-0 lead in the last game.

I just don't trust the Kings against a team that's similar to them but far more consistent. I picked Vancouver in 7 and even called the Kings winning one game 1-0. A defensive team like the Kings vs. fragile egos like Vancouver is a very favorable matchup for them

My "in 7" vanished wtf?

(And yes I'm aware they couldn't get the 3 on the very last game as the Coyotes had already clinched it)

Eh. Blues aren't great at making comebacks. If Kings are leading 2-0, that game will most likely be over. However, Blues like to slack off when they get the lead and it usually ends up biting them in the ass (they let the Sharks score two goals near the end of the third period after being up 4-1).

But every game will probably be 1-0.

They let the sharks score three times in trash time during games 3 and 4 just for the lulz.

There will probably be one 4+ goal game, and everything else may just be "FIRST TO TWO GOALS WINS".

Or the Senators!

And yeah, the rest of the east thanks the Flyers. They were the one team that could consistently beat the Penguins, and they saved the rest of the East by closing them out.

Penguins just got really, really ****ed by ending up with the Flyers.

This is the Islanders fault though! They beat the Pens twice, the Pens ended in 4th. If the Rangers ended in 4th, they're against a Flyer team they owned all season, probably beat, and then the Pens are set up to trample the rest of the conference.

Gogo ISLANDER Power.

I really came into game 6 thinking whoever won was going to move on. If the Rangers lose (and they probably will lose game 6), it sets the Bruins up because the Senators just aren't good enough to beat them. The Rangers are a ridiculously soft 1 seed that's played terrible hockey for the last month and a half, so this shouldn't be surprising to anyone.

The Bruins or Devils had a good chance of being given a very good setup. Looks like its the Bruins of the two.

Unless Thomas implodes I see them making the finals again.

2 seed vs. 2 seed, Bruins vs. Blues is where I'll go right now. Nashville wasn't terribly impressive against Detroit despite winning in 5 games, and the Blues are just the Kings but better. Nashville's goaltender went beast mode and Detroit's been dealing with major injuries for a while now, but Detroit regularly outplayed them, and also doubled them in shots in at least 3 of the games.

The Sens have given Philly trouble all year outside of their first game which was during the new coach adjustment period.

Boston is the only team I think is a really bad match-up for Ottawa that is left in the East. I really hope that Washington can put them out for us. (assuming we even get by NY)

Do you even watch Hockey? St. Louis is superior to LA everywhere -- literally. They have a better system, better defence (by far), better forwards, and they have better goaltending (although Elliott could fall apart at any time...and this is the closest category.)

This is wrong. Blues and Kings were pretty even throughout the season. We have better depth, but Quick is better than Elliott/Halak by a small margin. Both teams play really good defensive style hockey, tight and physical. The series could go either way.

McDonald and Backes are better than Kopitar and Richards? Really? In the regular season the Kings defense was just as good, and Quick is almost certainly going to win the Vezina. The Kings may very well lose, but man, this argument just makes no sense. The Kings just beat a MUCH better team than the Blues just did.

They weren't even at all. One of the teams ended up 8th and one ended up 2nd (and outside of Vancouver beating up on bad teams, look at their respective divisions...St. Louis was definitely the best team in the league this year.) St. Louis let in a ridiculous 155 goals...all year...and 7 of those were empty netters. In almost half as many games Elliott had 1 less shutout than Quick. Anyway...statistically speaking St. Louis let in 15 less goals this year and scored 18 more goals...it sounds small, but it's not. That's a +33 differential.

The series shouldn't go either way unless the Blues **** the bed. They are better literally everywhere on the ice.

Why are you singling out only two players on each team? St. Louis is not a team that gets by on a single star or two, it's a team that is deep everywhere. They're like a better version of the Bruins last year. Oshie, Backes, McDonald (who isn't even their second best forward...dunno why he was being compared to Richards and Kopitar) Berglund, Steen, Arnott, Stewart, Shattenkirk, Colaiacovo, Petriangelo, etc. etc.

St. Louis is easily the best and most well-rounded team in the league right now. If they lose it's because they failed to play as well as they can.

Dude Backes isn't even one of our top-scorers. I would place Perron and Steen over him. Those two and McDonald were out with concussions for a good part of the season. They would easily have put up more goals than Backes if they played as many games. And Backes has been slacking lately too. Aside from that one goal beautifully assisted by Oshie, he hasn't done much.

Naturally I want to agree with you, but you do realize the Kings, an 8 seed, just beat the 1 seed Canucks? So the seeds don't matter. However, I don't even think we had McDonald for the games against the Kings in the regular season. So yeah, there's a good chance the Blues will win. Then again, there's also a good chance they will s*** the bed because they're somewhat prone to it.

In what way are they prone to it? Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you just start following hockey? Not trying to be rude or anything.

Vancouver losing to LA has nothing to do with the seeding. Vancouver is just a very mentally and physically weak team. They are easily taken off their game and had a bad match-up. It happens. They aren't a team that is built to win the cup though.

Uhhh....Backes and Oshie are the most important forwards on that roster -- whether or not they are producing right now. McDonald is a great offensive force for them though. Colaiacovo is a great defenceman and I don't see how you could question him. He's very talented and why would you replace him? He's part of the reason that St. Louis has one of the deepest defence corps in the league.
