It's about that time where I start getting the itch to do something contest-y related to FFX. First there was ranking the FFX OST, then there was ranking the FFX Blitzballers, and then there was the Best Blitzer Ever tournament. Now I want to focus on FFX as a whole.
A later craze of Board 8 has been video game moments, and I want to follow in that craze. Now, at first I was going to just rank the FFX moments from the list I have created, but I decided that's not as fun to me, and I don't want the pressure of having to do writeups. I also played around with the idea of doing one of those "submit your lists and I'll tabulate them" lists, but again, writeups and so many variables of what people consider moments. In the end, I settled on the old Board 8 standby: Save My contest.
I think this could be fun. However, I'm not going to completely trust myself to have compiled a list of moments from Final Fantasy X that is effective and efficient enough to make this work. That's where Day 0 comes in: I have assembled a Google Doc with 60 moments on it. I've done my best to provide links and background and all that jazz, which became laborious at times. At this time, it's still a little incomplete, but I figured I'd make it public before going to work today and polishing it off when I got home this evening.
Basically the purpose of this topic is to let people go over the list and decide if there is anything that needs to be added, taken out, consolidated, clarified, or anything else. If you have ideas for improvements, please share them. Hell, if you have an idea better than a silly Save My contest, share it. The better quality of the list, the hopefully better quality of discussion that could be had down the road.
Rules will be your typical Save My rules, though I think I'm going to start out with a moment needing two saves to be safe. This prevents any loved moment from falling through the cracks early on.
Also, I'd need one or two people to help me put up topics and do tallies and whatnot in times when I'm unable to. You can volunteer to help me out for that here, too.
That's about it. Fire your thoughts away, and sorry for the wordiness.

Nominate: when the game finally gives you the damn freedom to go where you want instead of helplessly dragging you around subjecting you to excessive amounts of cutscenes.

You sure the laugh scene won't be "anti-voted" as much as it is possible in a save my contest? Perhaps a top 10 but not necessarily a win for the laugh scene.
Well, as long as this contest doesn't get a bunch of outsiders who don't really care about FFX and try to get the laughing scene to win in an attempt to "troll" the people who "care too much" about this contest, I doubt it wins.

This topic and my general love of FFX has inspired me. If this thing actually gets off the ground, whenever a moment is eliminated, I will give my general thoughts on said moment, and if I thought it was eliminated too soon or too late (or in the rare case, at just the right spot).

I actually plan on doing this as well.
Great minds think alike!

I think the events after completing the Besaid Cloister should be included as a moment, perhaps as "Yuna Becomes A Summoner". From, Tidus meeting Lulu and Kimahri, the FMV with Yuna leaving the Chamber of the Fayth, the ceremony with Valefor being summoned, and the campfire at night afterwards. (From the end of the first video into the start of the second).
Another moment I'm less sure of, but I really like, is when Yuna decides to tell the party she's chosen to marry Seymour (in the Thunder Plains).

I'm reminded of a moment I forgot to include that I had intended to: the Cloister of Trials. That will go under general moments.
Also, I dabbled in my head about the Yuna becomes a summoner part. I probably will include it as a catch all moment for meeting Lulu and learning about summoners and all that too. I'll check out the YouTube clip in the evening when I'm home.

M'kay, so I've done some polishing. I added "Meeting the Summoner", "Cloister of Trials", and "Aeons" (since they themselves were a departure from summons in games past and also allowed the PS2 to show off its fancy hardware).
I'm not sure about Yuna telling the gang she is going to marry. I personally wouldn't include it, but if there is demand for it, I'd oblige. I'll look into Leonhart's recs next.
What a punk. That literally took me hours both times I did it (I had to redo my FFX files on my PS3 after I sold my PS2 to a friend, so that meant doing Celestial Weapons a second time, whoo).
Also 64 is a good number.
