I don't understand how this game can be considered a visual novel

The argument could be made since first-person narrative makes up a large portion of the game, but I don't think most people consider it a visual novel.

Luckily, it's not a game to be played for its mechanics.

To be honest, I liked the gameplay way more than the story. If it was a pure puzzler with a less ridiculous story and more focus on the gameplay, it would have been awesome.

Do you think cats are clever? They don't hold a candle to dogs and SuperNiceDog is the cream of the crop since he won the Guru contest without breaking a sweat.

Interesting concept that was executed very well for the most part. The mystery of it all, not necessarily the story or characters, made me fully invested in the game as I beat it within five days. Also, the superb animations were not something I would expect out of a DS game.
