I am making this topic so that you people actually keep me going at this. I'm on episode 3 right now. I may or may not give some slight comments on each episode.
Episode 1: Just the pilot, nothing very special. WHY ARE WE HERE? It sets up the conflict between the red team and the blue team.
Episode 2: This was the episode that ultimately introduced Sarge. It's just the second episode so it isn't that great, but Chupa-thingy will always be one of my favorite quotes.
Procrastinater posted... Hey, Recreation/Revelation Tucker was good, cause he was a badass.
But I notice you're not saying later seasons Tucker is bad, but I'm just saying.
In earlier seasons, Tucker was pretty sarcastic with the occasional sexist comment.
Then it became all sexism with the occasional sarcastic comment.
I don't mind Tucker's character now (and he's still got some funny moments), but most of my favorite Tucker moments come in the early seasons.
Doc: I'm a pacifist. Caboose: You're a thing that babies suck on... Tucker: No, dude, that's a pedophile. Church: Tucker, I think he means a pacifier. Tucker: Oh yeah, right. Man I was... totally thinking 'bout somethin' else. Church: Thats real classy, Tucker.
Church: Okay, Tucker, I need you to get up there, help Caboose shore up a defense, establish a suppressing fire, and hold that position until further notice. Tucker: I didnt even know what half of that meant. Church: Just go over to Cabooses rock, and fire your gun a bunch. Tucker: That rock? Yeah, I dont think so. Church: We do not. Have time. To discuss this. Tucker: Sure, no time for you to discuss it! You get to hang out here with Nancy-no-bullets just shootin' the breeze! Meanwhile, Im out there, running around, eating a machine-gun sandwich. Church: Tucker, were going to give you covering fire! Tucker: Covering fire? Unless that means youre going to build a huge, bulletproof wall between me and them, I think you need to come up with a new plan. Preferably one that involves me keeping the same quantity of blood that I have right now.

Church: We already tested the teleporter, remember? Tucker: We threw rocks through it! Church: Yeah and so what? The rocks came through the other side, didn't they? Tucker: Yeah, but they were all hot and covered with black stuff. Church: Oh, so I guess that's what this is all about then? You're afraid of a little black stuff. Tucker: Yes, I am. I am afraid of black stuff. Church: Tucker, I almost hate to do this to ya. [Church points his gun at him] Tucker: You wouldn't. Church: You know, I look at it this way: either A) we go through there and get the flag back, or B) we stay here, and I get to kill you. Either way, I win. Tucker: For the record, I want you to know: Rocks aren't people.
"What're you gonna do, shoot ghost bullets? 'Hey I'm Casper the friendly bullet.'"
"You know what? I miss the old days, when we didn't risk our lives, and you guys were just a bunch of nameless a******s I would yell at with Church."
So good.

You obviously have way more of a grasp on RvB than I do.
That said, I like the later seasons more. It's still funny but it legit has more story. Not just a silly plot, but one that actually makes you think and go WHAT THE F***.
I'm not hating on episode 4. It is impossible to hate on any episode of RvB.
But this is a rewatch. I am spoiled by what I will be watching later on. In that case these first few or so episodes aren't as great. Still good, but not GREAT.
People were hating on the story back in Reconstruction, but I loved all of it until the end in season 8.
Season 9 is a little wonky, but some of the original RvB charm is still there at least with the Blood Gulch guys. The Freelancer stuff is where I don't care as much.

Season 9 was unfunny for 90% of it. I don't give a crap about the freelancers at all, and all that stupid bulls*** fighting is nothing more than pointless filler.
Basically, it's going the same route Star Wars did. Style over substance, really. You don't need to write good jokes or making your characters interesting if you spend a majority of your time with them just doing stupid fight sequences.
They're doing absolutely nothing to make me care about the Freelancers right now.

Episode 6: Donut has the flag and is confused. Caboose has a sniper rifle and doesn't want to get involved. Tucker thinks he went back in time. Church is trying to fix things but the REDS won't have that while they ride in with their Chupa-thingy and f*** things up.
Episode 7: Caboose drives a tank. And someone in the next episode will DIE! Psst: I know who it is...

This is terrible. RvB still has plenty of comedy, but they included the Haloid guy and he's been really good. I resent you comparing it to Star Wars. That was just a travesty. RvB was always meant to be a joke, so including the extra action scenes just added to it. There's still plenty of humor, only with more over-the-top action scenes. It does exactly what it's supposed to. Even better, the story is actually pretty damn good. Which is more than I can say for the Star Wars prequels.
Season 9 was the most unfunny season of Red vs Blue by a wide margin.
but they included the Haloid guy and he's been really good.
Season 8 he was good. He was used A) sparingly and B) to punctuate certain moments of the storyline and help the plot along. He also had some moments that were pretty funny, too. Season 9 he was overused and it became quite annoying when we'd get another over-the-top battle sequence instead of something humorous or purposeful to the on-going story. The Freelancer s*** was complete and utter filler, not focusing on the AI implantation or anything relating to the Freelancers as discussed in previous seasons.
I resent you comparing it to Star Wars. That was just a travesty.
My favorite series is slowly losing what made it awesome and is embracing flash. I'd say what's happening to RvB could become a travesty very easily if they continue down this course. Your love of Star Wars is likely equal to my love of Red vs Blue.
RvB was always meant to be a joke, so including the extra action scenes just added to it.
In season 8, it did. In season 9, it did not. It actively detracted from the experience. Watching fight sequence after fight sequence made them go from awesome moments to dull and repetitive.
There's still plenty of humor, only with more over-the-top action scenes.
I've already pointed out that Season 9 is the most unfunny season of RvB, and that the action sequences have lost the humor found in season 8 and have become dreary.
It does exactly what it's supposed to.
Make me not want to watch RvB anymore if it continues this s***? Because that's what it's doing.
Even better, the story is actually pretty damn good. Which is more I can say for the Star Wars prequels.
Red vs Blue's storyline is largely bad. It's full of retcons, plot holes, and general nonsense. It's attempts to be serious don't work, with a few exceptions.
In fact the Star Wars comparison is feeling more and more apt. It's a brilliant series that looks like it's going to reduce itself to nothing more than stupid fight sequences and marginalize the guys I want to see behind a overbearing plot and underdeveloped, uninteresting characters.
