I felt odd reading a manga made for adults as a 14-year-old (thanks...whoever it was, for providing the link), but it's well-designed for the parts that I read, and it stays relatively faithful to the novel. But I read through volume 2 and quit; as well-done as it is, I just felt wierded out by the fact that I'm reading something for people a bit older than I am. Plus, I'm not particularly fond of the teacher's perverse personality, either.
But I'm not disgusted by it, so I might continue. Maybe.

You know that these things are entirely arbitrary, right? It's not like something will magically change the day you turn a certain age that will make things targeted towards older people more enjoyable. If you watch an R rated movie the week before you turn 17, and then again when you turn 17, nothing will have changed.

Hrmm. I think I was 17 when I picked up this Manga. But I definitely do not agree with Tak, I think there still quite a few people out there who have not been completely corrupted by the internet/etc.
But with that said I feel like I DID lose some part of myself when I read this manga. But I also think that might contribute as to why I enjoyed it so much, because I think this manga series is really really good. It shocked me in ways I had not been shocked before. This is probably largely why it has had such a lasting impact.
If you more or less enjoy the plot (which apparently you do?) then I would say press on. Yeah I was 17 when I first read it, but if I had not have picked it or anything similar to it up then I'd have been just as "young" in that way even if I was 20+ when I first read it. It was a new experience and would have a similar impact no matter when I read it.
I think I'm still not entirely comfortable with some of the sexuality, but that is easily glanced over.

Ah, it was just the one time I did that. Then I said, "Oh forget it" yesterday and decided to continue in spite of whatever the cover says. Maturity, not age, I say.
And I'm certainly mature enough to read all 3 versions of Battle Royale.
