Yeah P3 was total drudgery near the end. My file had 500 hours or something on it. I wasn't playing and grinding and stuff for 500 hours, most of that was turning the TV on, saying "f*** this," and turning it back off while the game was still running. Plus the hour-and-a-half final boss was ridiculous and not even all that much fun. Decent music but not for an hour and a half.

P4 was long but at least I didn't feel like I was hitting my head against a brick wall like P3.

Nope. Often for action games with chapters I will check a FAQ to see how many chapters there are so I can see how close I am to the end.

It's a complete reversal for me.
Persona 3 I completed in about 6 weeks and never really felt like the story itself dragged. The only thing that dragged was the time between full moons and the new levels in tartarus.

I remember getting to Nanako's dungeon and giving up on the game for around a year just because I was bloody sick of it. I think part of the reason was I f***ed up Naoto's route because I didn't realise it isn't available that long, so instead of building up the skills you need to start the route I instead got the skill you need for the Dojima's routes. I'm pretty sure a light or dark spell might have had something to do with it as well but I can't remember >_>. But yeah. I had to take a break of P4 while P3 kept me entertained for most of the 80 hours. Nyx was a joke though. 13 forms or something over 1 and a half hours and that f***ing moment when Nyx f***ing charms your f***ing main character, jesus christ.

A few days ago, after realizing I have a ton of Heart-to-Hearts unavailable and exploring landmarks nets me a ton of Skill Points that don't get passed to new party members, I decided to look up how soon my next party member would come. I did get spoiled on my seventh, but I knew it would be okay to:

1) Bum rush to where I get my next one because it's at least two or three zones after where I was.
2) Learn that the timed quests of a certain place wouldn't cut off before I got my new party member

It still took me ten hours to get the character, but if I had been exploring, there's no doubt it would have taken thirty hours longer.

On P3, my friend went "watch out for the Final Boss, he's a dick," so I was like "k," went to Monad and grinded to Level 90 in about half an hour, fused Helel and Messiah, pumped them up to max stats with the card items, and STOMPED the final boss. He even charmed Mitsuru and healed himself fully in his last form and I just laughed a little bit and continued the beatdown.

So yeah, I had a very different experience with that guy. <_<

Mostly only for RPGs, though. And if I am using a guide on my first playthough, it's usually in those same RPGs just so I make sure I don't miss anything important.

pretty often yeah. i mean i understand i'm slightly screwing myself over on the game by knowing, but i'm fine with that and much rather would have that much spoiled on it than be stuck with a "...THAT'S IT?!"

It isn't even all that hard, because the main character had something ridiculous like 99 strength and I just wailed on her while using Mediarahan every single turn. It's just a huge chore and a crappy ending to a way-the-hell-too-long game.

I actually did the same thing with this one boss right before Adachi, who I remember was some sort of tower thing. I used physical attacks with everyone except one person using Mediarahan. It went triangle, get to Yukiko and press Triangle, X, X, press Triangle after Yukiko to reactivate rush. No thinking at all.
