There was one Dune game that led up to it, and several that had elements, but this was the first true RTS game:

And that came out in December 92 - Wolf 3D was May 92.

I know what you linked, I was providing hard evidence.

I fail to see how it's ignorant or obtuse when I just completely proved my claim - unless you can provide an RTS released earlier than Dune II(It may exist but I've never heard of one).

Dune 2 is known for being the first game that can be classified as an RTS

Eh, yeah, my computer had the Shareware for like the first quarter of it. My relative lack of enjoyment from shooting people tempered my resolve against most FPS games as time wore on.

I was actually allowed to play Doom before Wolfenstein because you didn't shoot people in Doom.

(shut up they were zombies)

That game makes me dizzy as f***.

Maybe it's the ports problem but damn I just get sick playing the game with all the bright walls and the one way turning axis.

because I was less than three months old old when wolfenstein 3d came out

I was playing Warcraft 2 religiously by the time I was 4 though, hell the first shooter I ever played was Unreal Tournament 1999 and I ignored the genre completely until about a year or two ago

unless there's some gigantic shame in being born in 1992 as compared to 1988, i'm completely content with my gaming history
