And yeah people are getting extremely tired of the WoW formula, if Rift did good it's because it had a tremendous launch and Rifts which were actually pretty damn interesting, they'll soon be overshadowed by GW2 dynamic events though, so I bet it'll go F2P after GW2's release. It's set 1000 years before Skyrim, which leaves everything open for retcons, but even if you assume the lore will be 100% consistent and there will be absolutely no problems (and that won't happen), there's no way an MMO will let any player murder any NPC and steal everything that's not bolted down, which is, well, you know, part of the games' appeal, because it would be a huge problem for other players. Even if you make the NPCs and, I don't know, forks and knives and lanterns and everything respawn after a few minutes, it's really unlikely they can properly capture the feeling of the open world in which you can do whatever you feel like in an MMO, simply because of the logistical problems.
